For those with a genuine interest in learning more and not just trying to define every issue with a left vs right "who's the winner" calculus, I highly recommend folks check out today's episode of The Daily. The NYT Beijing bureau chief discusses the real pressures facing China, their vulnerabilities, and why they came to the negotiating table.
Trump just lowered the tariffs on China so I guess the manufacturing jobs that a 175% tariff was going to do is now off the table again? I don't know what is more embarrassing; MAGA celebrating this as a "win" since Trump claimed victory over China, or the people of his administration lying on TV about how great these negotiations were by Trump while echoing the return of the Golden Era because they have to kiss dear leader's ass no matter what.
Those in the leadership are not capable of feeling embarrassed. The followers can't understand that they are being lied to, constantly.
Neither…it’s that our press isn’t old enough to remember the justification for the tariffs is that it would bring manufacturing back here.
I would say MSM reporters, and I would also say that they are too old. As in so old that their memory is failing. I have encountered a lot of non-legacy media and even legacy media podcasts which are able to get into the nuance in a way the daily reporters don't.
Yes and even if it got back level, there's roller-coaster fatigue. But as you say, it ain't back level.
Not a fan of unusual_whales tweets, but this has video. Trump on Ozempic: “A friend of mine who is a businessman… Most of you would've heard of him. Highly neurotic. Brilliant businessman. Seriously overweight. And he takes the fat shot drug... I said it’s not working.” pic.twitter.com/pkqf4IQDeX— unusual_whales (@unusual_whales) May 12, 2025 unusual_whales @unusual_whales Trump on Ozempic: “A friend of mine who is a businessman… Most of you would've heard of him. Highly neurotic. Brilliant businessman. Seriously overweight. And he takes the fat shot drug... I said it’s not working.” If you listen to the clip, the point was that this fat businessman paid $88 for Ozempic in London and $1300 here in the US. And Trump is the one who said "I said it's not working," not the fat businessman.
https://www.npr.org/2025/05/11/g-s1-65838/qatar-plane-trump President Trump on Monday scoffed at concerns raised about Qatar's offer to replace Air Force One with a luxury Boeing 747 jet, calling it a nice gesture that would be "stupid" to turn down. ... "I mean, I could be a stupid person and say, 'No, we don't want a free, very expensive airplane,' " he told reporters. "I thought it was a great gesture." ... "I think it's a great gesture from Qatar. I appreciate it very much. I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer," he said. No comment needed. That said, there was some talk this morning of a possible renegotiation with Boeing who is building two new Air Force One jets because of this bribe...I mean, gift. Never mind that this plane would need to be updated to meet the Air Force/military standards
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crljn5046epo A US-funded flight carrying the first group of 49 white South Africans to be granted refugee status has landed in Washington, after leaving Johannesburg on Sunday. ... Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen described the resettlement as "baffling" given the "indefinite suspension for thousands of legitimate asylum seekers" from other countries. No, it's not baffling. Asked directly on Monday why Afrikaners' refugee applications had been expedited compared to other groups, Trump claimed a "genocide" was taking place and that "white farmers" specifically were being targeted. "Farmers are being killed, they happen to be white, but whether they're white or black makes no difference to me," he said. He is mistaking South Africa with Zimbabwe, courtesy of Musk. Related: https://www.politico.com/news/2025/05/12/temporary-protected-status-afghans-00342250 Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced on Monday that the U.S. will terminate the temporary protected status program for Afghanistan, a move that could lead to the deportation of over 9,000 Afghans residing in the country. Noem said in a statement that the conditions in Afghanistan have improved sufficiently to warrant the program’s termination. Afghans’ temporary protected status will expire on May 20 and the elimination of the program will take effect on July 12. Bring White people in, get brown people out. This is the way.
That's the main reason the ones being built are so time intensive and expensive - there's a lot of communication and self-defense systems that need to be installed. Air Force One isn't a transport, it's a command center. Well, it is a transport too, but you know what I'm saying. To properly upgrade the Qatari ones you need to strip them to their bones. But as head of the Executive and head of the military, Trump can fly how he wants. And he wants luxury.
I suspect that the administration will find a reason not to go to the trouble of upgrading the Qatari plane, since it's just going to get transferred to Trump's slush fund, I mean, "Presidential" library fund, in a few years.
The part about "free, very expensive" is him convincing his gullible idiots that the country isn't paying for it, just like how "he's not accepting a salary". They don't stop to think that their Savior is getting rich every time He goes on vacation.
Yeah, I'm thinking of Adafruit, a small company that designs circuits for makers. The lead time for sending designs to China and getting product back is many months, and it happened for a big shipment right at peak tariffs. So they have to pay tens of thousands on product they haven't sold yet. But now that tariffs dropped, others selling similar products won't have to pay those same tariffs. So this rollercoaster just randomly screws some companies over others.

Isnot it clear to them there's a fire hazard or even worse, with eating that many beans close to an open fire?
Meanwhile, I have to clear it with supervisors if I want to buy staff gift cards for Christmas or a single bib for a baby shower. Even then, there is a spending limit I am not allowed to go over. This guy is gifted a whole a$$ plane and we have to pretend it's just another Monday.
