Judge Beryl Howell at it again.

The courts have decided against DOGE and the US government in their legal battle to take full control of the United States Institute of Peace, including a headquarters building with an estimated value of $500 million.

In a memorandum opinion, US district court judge Beryl Howell ruled in favor of the former institute board and staff who had sued to be reinstalled at the agency after DOGE affiliates forcibly removed them in March. She also gave a strong rebuke to the defendants in the case, who include the US DOGE Service, President Donald Trump, secretary of defense Pete Hegseth, and several other government representatives and agencies.

    ...

The order states that the USIP board members who had been forced out must be reinstated. It goes on to declare any actions taken by the agency since their removal—including the headquarters transfer—null and void. It further bars the defendants from “maintaining, retaining, gaining, or exercising any access or control over the Institute’s offices, facilities, computer systems, or any other records, files, or resources.”

The ruling caps off one of the most dramatic chapters in DOGE’s government takeover so far. It’s also one of the fullest repudiations yet of DOGE overreach. The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Once again, DOGE is not about increasing "government efficiency," but about cutting for the sake of cutting.

And the DoJ is, once again, feckless.

You'd be surprised at what croaking does to a movement. Look at Jim Jones as just 1 example

Problem is the capital class that is funding and supporting him. They've put all their chips in and removing him, one way or the other, won't stop them from continuing on this path.

The Felon didn't start this movement so his absence won't stop it. Only by checking the power of the CC can there be any hope of stopping the fascism.

Oh, guess what next month brings?

"Where's our Military Appreciation Month? Why doesn't the military get a parade?"

Umm, it's this month, you snowflakes. As for your parade, do you mean the one in November or the one in July?

You mean that country that carried on for decades more, collapsed, and fell to fascism after nearly a century of (varying degrees of) authoritarian rule?

And his popularity in Russia is rising. There is a growing mythos in Russia that the last time Russia was strong was when Stalin was the President and that every President since was weaker and weaker up until Putin.

Trumpism is such a mish-mash of disconnected ideas that I don't it'll be a thing after he croaks. Could be wrong and the next R after may build on it. But there's no one I see with the same cult of personality

Stalin came in on the heels of a well established ideology and once he was dead that ideology along side devotion to Stalin kept that cult going. I define anyone to identify a well established ideology associated with Trump. At the most successful, Trump may be Papa Doc.

Trump is unique, no doubt. People give him leeway nobody else gets in the political world.

Hell, most Trump supporters don't like Vance at all, with a minority just neutral on him. Nobody actually likes him.

The policies of grievance and pettiness (both domestic and international) based on the asinine assumption that the world at large has been taking advantage of the US for too long

That has gone full tilt under Trump, and I can see some other idiot picking up the mantle and the US electorate going along with it.

First off - a duh. These sociologists used fancy social science to explain what we already knew. Trumpers wanna say DEI sucks & hurts Wypipo. They don't want trans in the bathrooms or in women's sports. Too many interracial couples in commercials. Get rid of these brown furriners like yesterday. Now everything is perfect like the olden days.

It goes something like this: Trump’s biggest supporters are motivated by bigotry and want him to hurt the people they dislike.

“A lot of people find it really hard to believe that people would really want what Trump represents,” said Smith, who began researching authoritarianism as a sociology graduate student more than 40 years ago. “My experience is the hard core of people who support Trump election after election is they really mean it. They support him because of what he says and does, not in spite of it"

I've told this before but I have to tell it again, because it's so jarring.

I had this professor in college, person worked on a Soviet fishing boat near Alaska in the 80s. The captain had a photo of Stalin on his desk. My professor asked him, "Why do you have a photo of a man who killed so many of your own people?"

His response? "Everyone make mistake." The whole class was silent and just didn't know how to react. I still think about that line and that was 15 years ago. I think about it a lot more now given the Trump fanatics.
