So the party of "I'm voting for the convict" is now denying he's a convicted felon? I'm not sure they should be speaking about anything related to law and order.
The UCMJ thing being probably the oldest of those I'm gonna go with it; although I do like the Chumley's one also.
"Melania would love to 86 me...oh boy would she. And not the restaurant kind. Like stuff-me-in-the-ground kind. Why do you think I always eat McDonald's?"
The people I most want to scream at are people who voted for Trump because they thought he'd be better for Palestinians. Unless, deporting a couple million Palestinians is actually what they wanted. The Palestinian plight, even if you're pro-Israel, ought to engender sympathy. And Shithole-country Trump has amply demonstrated he's got none.
Brown furriners are like chess pieces to Trump. And we know he doesn't have a clue how to play chess.
For me, it’s people like Rashida Tlaib (and the pro-Palestine movement) who bitched about not endorsing Dems. And then she throws a fit when Trump gets elected when he does the things she was warned about. Then her and the rest of her ilk are dead silent when Trump does this, but will happily go protest Dems. It’s why I hope Tlaib gets primaried. And it’s why I hope Dems start punching left a little bit. Because quite honestly, they’re bad for the Dems and get in the way of what needs to be done.
The other story is that it's an address of a bar in the Village and cops during Prohibition would tip off the owners when there was about to be a raid by telling them to "86" the customers.
Thought Elmo DOGEbag was apposed to fix our deficit Moody’s Ratings cut the United States’ sovereign credit rating down a notch to Aa1 from the Aaa, the highest possible, citing the growing burden of financing the federal government’s budget deficit and the rising cost of rolling over existing debt amid high interest rates. “This one-notch downgrade on our 21-notch rating scale reflects the increase over more than a decade in government debt and interest payment ratios to levels that are significantly higher than similarly rated sovereigns,” the ratings agency said in a statement. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/ec...it-rating-increase-government-debt-rcna207385
Trump wants cheap dollars and low interest rates. The problem is that it's kind of a "have the cake and eat it too" situation. If you make dollars cheaper, then foreigners who hold US bonds are losing money on the exchange rate and want to get rid of them. When you sell the bond for less, the effective interest rate goes up, and if the US Government wants to sell more bonds into that market it has to match that effective interest rate to get people to nibble. The effective interest rates on 30 year bonds is now about 5%. It hasn't been that high since 2007.
https://theonion.com/trump-grants-r...ewsletter&mc_cid=c297a11a65&mc_eid=c38073e4ad WASHINGTON—Condemning what he described as the disturbing and unjust treatment of the group, President Donald Trump granted refugee status this week to former SS guards. “The discrimination these people are facing is absolutely sick—they’re literally hunting them down,
Trump received due process and an extraordinary amount of leeway which would have never been granted to regular citizens. There wasn't a conjuring of charges against Trump and he was given an offramp every time, yet chose not to take it, most notably with the documents case. The fact he will not receive any sort of accountability for what he did in Georgia, despite being caught red handed, should render any MAGA claim of a weaponized DOJ as empty rhetoric. But, let's be real. It doesn't matter what Trump did. He will always be above the law to the MAGA cohort and his defenders will manipulate the narrative towards his victimization at every turn. Thus, the false narrative gives cover for any authoritarian action of the Trump Administration and DOJ. Just like every other abuse, corruption, illegality, incompetence, etc., the response every single solitary time isn't to defend innocence, but to use an argument I wouldn't have accepted from my children when they were 5: "What about them?!!?!".
There are as many, if not more, people on the right who are harmful to the interests of the democratic party. People like Tlaib are just politically clueless and lack the ability to recognise context. Some of those on the right have removed the reasons to vote democrat... tacit support for Israel's genocide in Gaza being one.
I asked Grok (I used Grok because I felt it important to use Elon's toy for this particular query) -- based on actuarial data, and considering Trump is obese, unhealthy, consumes drugs and junk food, and clearly has signs of dementia, how long can he be expected to live. Grok said 2-3 years max. So there's that.
Agree with your overall point, but I'd add DOJ didn't have anything to do with the Georgia prosecution, which was purely based on state law. So that can't even be counted as "DOJ weaponization" if we want to keep using that stupid term.
That's the Chumley's one. Chumley is recorded in Damon Runyon's Broadway stories as "Good Time Charley," I think...
I wonder if they really thought Trump would be better or, like Nader 2000 voters, wanted to “heighten the contradictions.”
I think Vance would be worse. At least if Trump were to die relatively soon…if it’s like Christmas 2027, Vance will immediately go into “moderate for the general” mode. But if it’s Christmas 2025, he’ll be competent MAGA because he won’t want to get primaried in 2028. A poll on that would interesting.
