I don’t believe they have all played together. But certainly not under Berhalter.

The glass is on fire and the world will end!
Seriously. This is my legit concern with Sargent and Hoppe.

Once you border on the apocalypse (Schalke Bremen), you become Bobby Wood, and then there is no road to redemption.

@dspence2311 if you only follow top five, there is a reason why you only see glass half full.

E.g. I guess you missed the last Gatt, Iceman, Rubin, Boyd (Turk), Taitague, Z. Jones, Soto, Llanez, BOBBY WOOD posts.

Yanks Abroad is basically an obituary column for 93% of players for the top five leagues.

Obv. much more but that was off the top of my head in 30 seconds ;) So yeah, the glass is full napalm ;)

Focusing on the top leagues is natural. Having someone like Boyd doing well in the 3.Liga or Dogan starting every game in the Irish second division is nice, but ultimately irrelevant.

Oh, of course. I am not criticizing the guy.

I am just saying there is a steep slippery slope to the netherworld and that is why, from experience, there is a justified paranoia.

At least, that's what my mirror whispers to me at night.

If the end is the USMNT and all of Yanks Abroad (& MLS) is just a stock watch to track players into how they fit in that team, okay. But I think that’s missing a lot.

I always viewed things bigger picture. For me, it’s mostly about having American players doing well, in many places both top leagues, middle leagues, & small leagues (while also having a thriving domestic league) simply to have a big American footprint in the game.

Sure, but you get paid to have such a wider view.

My job has nothing to do with soccer, so I focus on those that may be useful to the NTs.

But you're the guy with 7 illegal, simultaneous streams that can educate us on individual players in the Latvian 3rd division. :)

If some guy playing in the Latvian 3rd division sounds like a possible positive addition to our 23-man roster for qualifiers, you can bet your arse I'm going to follow him.

That's why you should pay more attention to Boyd on twitter ;)))

I assume you noticed he is pretty active ;)

I try to follow anybody, but especially forwards.

In terms of Sargent and Hoppe, all we have to do is look at the obituary columns of Boyds x 2, Wright, Wooten (albeit he didn't play BL) basically every forward since... Wood, probably a lot longer?

If both drop down to 2. Liga the road back becomes exponentially harder.

For example, I watch a lot of Boyd, there is no doubt in my mind he could play for a low level bl team atm, but path decisions led him to where almost no one would consider him for Usmnt, simply because of the league he plays in, and not the quality of his play.

Of course, when your rivals are USL level, the quality of your play is bound to look better if you're just a bit above decent.

Having someone playing and scoring in 3 Liga is, as you say, nice but irrelevant.

Having anyone in the League of Ireland D2 is horrible, not least for the guy in question.

The 3 Liga may not have very good football, but at least it's full-time with a decent wage. The Irish D2 is below any of the RLs or the Scottish 3rd division in standard.

Have some respect for your grandma's knitting circle.

As we say in Ireland, that's a serious joke

Really feel sorry for the kid. He does so many things so good, reminding why the expectations were that high 2 years ago. But on this team he hit the wall and, unless Werder gets another coach, he needs to leave and start from scratch with someone who figures out how to use him.

Yep. There was a time about 6-8 games ago where it either got better or worse. It got worse, his form has suffered, and he looks even less happy/confident now. Those simply aren't good highlights compared with what he was putting out before. Not great.

Sarge with a kicker 4.5 (1 best, 6 worst) against Hoffenheim. Maybe a little harsh but hey, when you lose 4-0 and your team has two total shots it is hard to get an average rating. Sarge fared better than other attackers, Rashica got the coveted BW 6!
