It was an ankle issue developed in training. Could be worse. Still frustrating to force a scratch right before the lone interesting match from a YA standpoint.
He was also quite excellent with the Bremen reserve team. The step up in class from reserve to BL1 is high.
That sucks. I was really looking forward to watching him play with my day off. I guess i'll have to go do something outside
pulisic getting healthy pretty much guaranteed something would have to happen to someone else. sarge takes the hit for the team
It is an old quote but Kohlfeldt said it before the season and then a few weeks ago. Not sure about the translation of the millimeter stuff. I did a translation of his latest quote but am too lazy to look it up the quote was not taken out of context. Kohfeldt is/was 100% seeing Josh as a lock starter.
You're close, but nope. He made his Bremen II debut in the 2018-19 season and they'd been relegated from the 3 Liga at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Yet I think Bremen did ok in the English tourney they played in . Didn't Josh get the GoldenBoot for that one?
The full quote makes it pretty clear that it's the latter: "I stand by the comment I made before the season started: I haven't thought about playing a starting line-up without Josh Sargent in it for a second. "He can't ease off, not even a millimetre. It's unpleasant to play against us and it's difficult to find space. That's had a lot to do with Josh over the past few weeks. He's in great shape, he can go for the full 90 minutes." "He can't ease off, not even a milimetre" = "He won't/can't let himself". In other words his attitude and his game are the perfectly aligned with a side whose gameplan, especially in the final third, is to frustrate and harass the opposition into errors that they can capitalize on. It's not very glamourous and it's always going to leave MNT fans moaning and fretting over poor goals scored numbers and saying how quickly he should move to whoever, which isn't going to happen before August, if it happens at all, because Bremen won't even hear of selling unless a) someone offers funny money (15 million or so IMO) and b) there's a decent replacement out there. The entire article is well worth reading https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bunde...ing-into-werder-bremen-s-main-man-usmnt-13685
From that article: “ Sargent was Bremen's best player in the 1-1 draw, on the pitch from start to finish and setting up Maximilian Eggestein for his side's goal. The 20-year-old was also Werder's quickest player with a top speed of 19.79 mph (31.85km/h) and had more shots (three) than any of his teammates, and would surely have had a couple of goals himself had there been any goalkeeper other than Manuel Neuer between the posts.” Some of the YA wise heads should write a sternly worded letter.
Yep. Who on earth do these guys think they are. The BSers on BS have proved - conclusively - that the guy's stagnating and that he'll be all washed up in a season or two. How dare these Krauts bring facts and expert opinion to the discussion.
In reality TV shows there is always a member of the cast who tells others to “calm down.” It’s a sort of passive aggressive attempt to establish status, or to claim the higher power status.
