Norberto Fuentes's "Hemingway en Cuba," narrating those years. He played mostly baseball, but he tried several other sports including playing fútbol with the kids in the streets of Cuba. They called him "Papa Hemingway" too. At some point he had a little field made to play sports with the locals, The only reference to any of that I can find online is here: https://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/07/sports/baseball/07hemingway.html PS: Much of the music I grew up with has never been put on CD, hence it's never made it online. Same for many books I have right here. Maybe I should start scanning and turning my LP collection into MP3s.
How would much of your music not be online? Truly, how? One can dig up the most obscure songs from the most obscure places. If you were sitting on a trove of completely unknown, undigitized music it's your duty to save it! Are all your records homespun and played with salvaged nails?
Sources: FC Cincinnati pushed to sign USMNT forward Josh Sargent from Norwich CityCincy bid in region of $20m but Norwich demand $25m+. No agreement. Personal terms won't be an issueSources say pursuit is still active. Could be winter move if gets donehttps://t.co/xKexb5hyXe— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) August 16, 2024 f*** that. Don't need a repeat of 2014-2015 time period where MLS killed YA with fat salaries for USMNT players.
He's entering his prime and coming off his best season to date. Should be looking to get back to a top 4 league. In general Cincy seems kinda stupid on the transfer front. Like they have money to spend but their scouting market is run by amateurs. 20M for Sargent with the MLS salary structure? That makes no sense lol. Nor did going hard after McKennie if true. For 20M you can buy two pretty nice young South American attackers with resale value.
It'd be a lateral move but he has more eyes on him over there. I rather have him stay in England, and Cincy use their money better.
Exactly. Stay in Europe. Prove yourself. While there have been a lot of areas that MLS has, in fact, improved, in so many other ways, it really hasn’t.
Sargent has had 4 legit chances to score this half. He should have buried at least three of them. He missed just wide from near the penalty spot. He hit the crossbar on a header and had a pretty wide open goal when the keeper got pulled to one side after a horrible back pass but a defender made a latch ditch effort to block his shot. Ugh. C’mon, Sarg! You’ve given Blackburn fits yet nothing to show for it they are down 1-0 in the 42nd minute
Where Sarge to Cincinnati is concerned, he's reportedly on 1.3 million pounds a year. That's not a whole lot of money and something a well-financed MLS side wouldn't have too much difficulty exceeding but a lot of Top 5 sides would: 2/3rd of Ligue 1, and the bottom 1/3rd of Serie A for starters. If the choice is between a good MLS side offering 3 million pounds with a shot at silverware and a mid-table BL1 side offering 2 million and a shot at the Pokal quarter finals, it's not a very difficult choice
He’s on the scoresheet now! Beautiful finish! Norwich picked off a pass and the next pass made it to Sarg he drove a few yards into the box and hit a thunderous shot to the top bins. 1-1 in the 66th
Now creates goal #2. Picks the ball up in midfield, drives fw, works a 1-2, powerful run into space, and then ball across (in a tight window) for the tap-in. Showing off all the skills.
And now he becomes the provider on a sweet little pass across the face of goal from the right hand side for his teammates to slot home: 2-1 73rd minute
Years back I got one of those record players that digitizes albums and tapes. I converted everything to digital. It’s well worth it. I’m a massive music fan, that’s my biggest passion in life. I bought a lot of obscure stuff back in the day, by local bands and such.
This is why I love XG. It helps center our fan(atic)dom in reality. I was doing pbp duty; I’m pretty mellow about chances. I like to poke fun at fans calling .2 XGs as sitters. And even *I* thought it was about 1 after seeing the replay of the chance off the steal.
