There is nothing reasonable about it at all. The German national team is about to go play in Spain. The will do so with players who play in the Bundesliga. They will do so with players who live and play in the UK. The idiotic notion that the virus stops at state or even national boundaries is one of the reasons we haven't yet come up with a very good way to slow its spread. As someone else pointed out, Sargent could play in the first game and still be back in Germany to be in and out of quarantine well before the club's next game. It's always been the German clubs that have either attempted to or have successfully leveraged our players from playing for the USMNT. In this case I would assume the club has been successful in doing so.
On a happier note, Sargent should feature in today's marquee game: Werder Bremen v FC Köln, at 2:30 PM eastern [Following the break, Sargent's next game will be @ Bayern Munich on Saturday, November 21. Per WB twitter, WB and BM are the only teams to have scored in the past 8 league games.]
Crucial game for Bremen tonight. Though Bremen may not be near the relegation zone at the moment, it's still early and these games against other teams who are likely to be battling relegation are critical. Hopefully Bremen can win and Sargent can bag a goal or two. Too true. A 7-point gap is nothing at this stage of the season and getting a result against Koln will cushion the blows that are coming over the following 6 games: Bayern, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Dortmund then Mainz and the winter break is right after that. Koln tonight and Mainz are the best chances of getting points there. If they pick up 7 points from this run of games they'll be in decent shape for the ruckrunde.
with a picture! So Nice.
Josh just had a clear path on an attack but once closed down he couldn’t beat his defender 1-1. That’s why his lack of dribbling ability will be a weakness.
Had two dangerous moments. In one instance he seemed to lose his balance trying to dribble. In the other, the ball seemed to get trapped under his feet. Koln are playing in a low block and sagging into the middle. Bremen's flank play is horrible. Their ability to quickly switch is limited. Their ability to quickly move the ball on the counter is nonexistent.
I haven't been able to watch. I'm working like a nerd. Anyone been able to watch the first half and could give a little break down?
lol... never seen that German word before. Awesome. bremen köln absolutes schlafmützenspiel— eros ramascotti (@scotthalde) November 6, 2020
schlafmützenspiel (Most comments I saw was not a lot of chances, but Bremen the better side in a pretty anonymous game.)
The problem with watching Sargent on Bremen is that they so infrequently get into dangerous positions, anytime Sargent touches the ball everyone thinks he had a "dangerous" moment. Reality is he had a slight bit of space 30 yds from goal twice. Granted, he didn't make much happen (but didn't lose the ball either), but they were hardly indicative of poor play. Reyna (or others) gets the ball in space where Sargent did about 10 times a game, I bet. And when he fails, as most do, it's not even noticed. I watched most of that first half, and hardly noticed Sargent outside of some nice defensive headers. Typical Bremen game. Boring snoring.
Sargent had a legit moment in front of goal, but botched it.. The other was on the counter when had stumbled over the ball.
