Okay, let's hope this one is up to stay.

BTW, this last incident should not reflect badly on the administrators of BS. In case you missed the explanation, the web servers were subjected to a concerted attack just as a full backup was being run. As a sysadmin, I can tell you that that would really blow.

Hey Celtic fans, just out of curiousity, when was the last time a non-Old Firm side won the league?? :)

Well, the "premeire league" having had a lot of incarnations over the years, I'm not sure.

Aberdeen won the League Cup in 1996, beating Dundee 2-0, and Hibs won it in 1992, beating Dumferline 2-0.

    Aberdeen 1995?

Why is it that the rest of the SPL is so poor?? It just seems like one of these Edinburgh teams like Hibs should be able to compete...It's just like Holland I guess, with only 3 teams really in the running for the league every year.

Noone can compete financially anymore, in the eighties and early 90's money wasnt such a big part of the game and they could compete, but since money has taken over everything its impossible,as is the case in any small league, barring a miracle its the ones that can spend that will consistantly win things, if an SPL club could get their hands on the kind of money a bolton or an everton get in television rights they would probably do a lot more good with it.
Aberdeen would probably still be the third biggest club in scotland in terms of gate revenues i would reckon anyway.

Dont want to predict this one, Aberdeen have been crap of late but they did well in the UEFA against hertha and only recently appointed steve paterson and i think hes still looking for a win, fraught with danger is a trip to the frozen north of sheep shaggerville at the moment.

1-1 with the SheepShaggers...certainly not the result we were hoping for...and Fernandez was anything but useful in this match. Any thoughts on his potential??

Not the way I wanted to start my three weeks of Hoops withdrawl. UGH!!!

Fernandez could have done the job admirably if he had been given the chance right away, he looks to have put on weight as well as lost match fitness.
If we have a dietician at the club he should be sacked, Lennon looks like he could stand to lose a stone at least as well.

    Losing Kids

    There goes Simon Lynch,
We really need to give these youngsters a shot of first team action
its great that we have a winning side but these players will not be around forever, if we take from the english example and start playing more youth players in our squad. they will not leave and reduce the need for spending millions on forgein Duds.

This seems a bit of a risky move for Lynch, going to a club (Preston) where the manager might get the bullet quite soon, ;) But I suppose he had to get first team football somewhere. Selling him for 130K makes buying David "subbed as a sub" Fernandez for a mill look even stranger on Celtic's part, however.

Talking of Craigy Broon, has anyone else noticed that hardly any English pundits reckon that he is a shrewd manager who copes with limited resources nowadays?

I'll never know why the SFA appointed a guy whose career "highlight" was winning the second division with Clyde!

...who hasn't convinced me at all this season he's any better than Crainey. I feel bad the kid can't get a steady run in the line-up, because I think he's proved he can play at a very high level.

Exactly, another example of MON placing his trust in a less than outstanding journeyman instead of giving the ready made youngster a run out, step forward Shaun Maloney and Jamie Smith also. Plus I dont really see Laursen as being any kind of replacement for Dolph.
    While I'm ranting........
I'm not exactly surprised but Iam raging that we never signed any players while the window was open, we didn't have to go mental but we NEEDED something just to show that the club had a shred of ambition left and the worst of it is we had a world cup winning midfielder who wanted to come and play for us for 3 million pounds, that is buttons, and likely he will be away to newcastle in the summer now, same old biscuit tin mentality from the board and I think we have just handed the huns the league now(nearly 100 million in debt and can still sign two players who could improve their squad), the fans are getting very pissed off now as well at the way they are coining it in while letting the playing squad dwindle and degrade, if this season ends in disaster its not unthinkable to see some protests at the front door again, ah the good old days ;)

    ah well
Hakan Yakin's agent is making positive noises about Yakin becoming a celtic player for the season ahead.
For a million it is a good deal.
