I always wondered why the standings are listed as they are using only the points accumulated. Shouldn't games in hand be taken into account? If they were, the standings would be:

    Team Pld GF GA Pts

    Metro 5 12 12 8
    Chicago 6 6 4 9
    DC 6 7 8 6
    NE 5 6 8 5
    Clb 5 2 7 2

I'm taking into account basically points earned per game, and pace-for-season. (ie Metro earns 1.6 points per game and is on pace for 48 points on the season, chicago earns 1.5 per game and is on pace for 45 on the season).

In any case, I'm looking for any excuse to keep Metro on top of the table ;)

Thats counfusing cheif. Lets keep it simple ok? It will get ironed out anyways, cause its how you FINISH that counts, and they are no "games in hand" then.

baseball standings are done in a similar way i think, right? that being said, i have never seen a team with fewer points listed above a team with more.

EPL lists games played and points total on shortened standings (like on home page of sites for space reasons) but always has the higher points above lower.

You missed the point I was trying to make...I was just trying to come up with a device to keep Metro on top of the table :)

Not entirely. They do what is called "games behind", so a team with 10 wins and 9 loses is a half game ahead of a team with 10 wins and 10 loses. It basically ranks by wins, but it takes the games played into account.

    For example:
    Code:
                   GP W L GB
    Boston 30 19 11 -
    New York 30 17 13 2
    Baltimore 27 15 12 2.5

So, the Orioles are 2.5 games behind the Red Sox on 4 less wins, 1 more loss but 3 less games played.

As for Metro, just leave the standings as is. If we play well enough, we will be on top eventually.

Well... we do lead in one category.

    Goals For: 12
    Goals Against: 12

So either we are great goal scorers.. or lousy defenders. Im suprised Im not hearin screams of "Walker sucks!" ;)

I have an idea for another device - winning on Saturday. That should all but get us there.

    But good idea.
