It raises hairs on my neck - unfortunately they are on the inside, and there usually comes a concomitant retching .....
and lest you all think I'm some sort of esoteric snob, I give you some of the stuff I like to listen to just for fun - just think it's cool that they hve pianos in European airports for people to just sit down and play - not the most poliched or even talented band but they capture New Orleans for me.
Best part of the video is the Lotto Stadio's with the green logo the players are wearing. Was my boot of choice for a long time.
I still have, somewhere, a “tape” of Jon’s from Woodstock of James Taylor doing his first public, pre recording of “Carolina on my Mind” Caught Taylor and Carol King in concert in Seattle a few years back. Surprised of how many younger folk were there.
Yikes, memories flooding back. A year or so before Woodstock I went up to a nearby college Wheaton College in Massachusetts to see a guy some of the local kids thought was great. A crowd of about 40 was gathered around on an open lawn watching a very young James Taylor sing and accompany himself on guitar. Full head of hair down to his shoulders, tried “Fire and Rain” and “Sweet Baby James” on the crowd. We thought he was really good and hoped he made it as a performer.
What memories. I was prolly still in these days. The Cavern and the Liverpool scene. Dunno if this will work but I look in here often for old memories. Got to go down for the good pics of the cavern. Facebook Liverpool and Merseyside area rock bands 1960’s and 1970’s yeah, that worked. Put the whole of that in the address line.
Some of the bands I saw in various venues in SoCal Black Pearl Zephyr (Tommy Bolin on guitar ) The Flock Vanilla Fudge ( at The Golden Bear in Huntington Beach ) Ian and Sylvia ( also at TGB ) Butterfield Blues Band ( Jeff Beck sat in on guitar on one number ) Charlie Musselwhite Jo Jo Gunne Tranquility and Mountain ( Santa Monica Civic Aud ) Foghat Tranquility was a very underrated Brit band. Here's their album "Silver"
Ian Tyson was a big influence on a number of folk rockers. Four Strong Winds is one of my favorites. Neil Young covered it well.
I was into some of those songs but with artists like fellow Canuk Gordon Lightfoot and Judy Collins. Who in my not so humble opinion are a tad better. When I work in my office, like now I have some youtube of America's or Britain's got talent running in the background. Some fun new talent. First I've heard this guy though. His song starts about 2:09
any chance of a track listing....? I played th efirst couple.. quite like that ... SCRAP THAT QUESTION _ I see now it's already in there....
If asked, I would have said that he wrote it..... that's what happens when you start playing music from electronic sources - after a few years you are no longer reading liner notes and forgetting stuff like that ....
Young’s voice isn’t his strong suit imo but it was perfectly suited for the cover on the Comes a Time collection - and Nicolette Larson RIP was a great harmony for him.
I'm missing the footy this morning so I decided to cue up some videos of Liverpool on YouTube. There's a complete broadcast of the UEFA Cup final from 2001 including the prematch interviews etc.
I used to watch South Liverpool back in the day. The amateur club has some history. Jimmy Case and John Aldridge once played for them. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52070349
What a phenomenal, crazy, totally bananas football match (2001 UEFA Cup final ). I watched it live in El Paso in our living room on Fort Bliss on Fox Sports World. I'd only been a supporter for about three years at the time. That season was so much fun. I'd not watched it in several years and it was just what I needed today. It was cool seeing the BBC coverage. Gary Mac was simply immense. Seeing the difference in tactics between then and now was striking. All in all, a nice diversion from the shit-show we're living in zt the moment.
