Sounds like an interesting signing (if it goes through). Here's some more info on Bolder... http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=16022
The report at the link above has now been changed. It says that Adam Bolder has now been given permission to speak to Hull City and says that Hull "who were keen on a loan deal, now look set to seal a permanent move."
19-year-old defender Matthew Hislop has had his contract terminated by mutual consent. Hislop joined QPR in March 2005 after being released by Arsenal and played in one match, a start in September 2005 visit to Leicester in which he was replaced by Dominic Shimmin in the 70th minute.
Adam Bolder has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with QPR. He has lots of experience at this level and is still reasonably young. Let's hope he proves a good signing. He'll wear the #7 shirt vacated by Matthew Rose.
As he hasn't figured in Gregory's side at all, I guess it's not a surprise, although I figured they'd let him go at the end of the season rather than orchestrate an early exit. He was the longest serving current Ranger. Good luck to Rose -- I hope he can stay healthy and extend his career elsewhere.
The contract of 18-year-old defender Jonathan Munday has been terminated with immediate effect. Munday was in the squad a few times last season but did not make any first team appearances for the club.
Trimming the wage bill so we can make a run at Beckham!!! You know, for that relegation battle that's coming up.
Some good comments from John Gregory on QPR World today. He said the squad needed to be paired down, we had too many professionals who weren't good enough to make it into our first team, and that we had to take a financial hit to pay some of these guys off, but we needed to clear the decks. Sounds like the ownership has stumped up some money to help clear the decks and is backing Gregory's judgment on players like Bolder. Gregory also mentioned that he's hopeful of bringing in one more player before the window closes and it's one that would go straight into the squad.
in the paper today it said we might get rito ziegler on loan from spurs until the end of the season, and pick up danny culip (a central defender) from forest on a free transfer. think culip might be a bit more likely. if it's true i doubt zeigler will be interested, but you never know, he's only played 4 games this year for spurs.
According to the BBC: Hope we're able to pull off a deal for Cullip. Nothing on the official site yet.
The official site reports that we've signed Forest defender Danny Cullip. He's signed an 18-month deal at Loftus Road and we didn't have to pay a fee as Cullip was released from his deal at Forest. Excellent news. The signings of Bolder and Cullip should both be a morale boost and improve our chances on the pitch.
I really rated Cullip when he was at Brighton (back when we were in the same divisions). Surprised that he's bounced around a bit in the last couple years. Soccerbase info... http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=9851
People (on the LSA board anyway) are moaning about what we've done in the transfer window, but it looks like (assuming Biggie is out for awhile leaving a spot for Timoska) we've added 3 starters. Does Rehman now go to the bench, Cullip partner Stewart in the middle, and Mancienne and Timoska start out wide? As ever, strikers don't come cheap. I can understand that we weren't able to come up with someone better than Blackstock/Jones/Furlong/Nygaard in this window.
03/04 promotion star Lee Camp has come back to the R's from Derby on loan until the end of the season. The 22-year-old Camp has fallen out of favor at Derby this season after starting most of the 04/05 and 05/06 seasons and has signed a 3-month loan with QPR. This season, he has 3 appearances for Derby (2 League, 1 League Cup) and 3 for Norwich while on loan.
Paladini trying to bring up a "no news is good news" talking point here re: clubs shopping for our good young(ish) players... http://www.fansfc.com/qprfootballclub/news.asp?newsid=162772
18-year-old midfielder Taku Watanabe has had his contract terminated with immediate effect. The official site says he signed on at the beginning of the season after being released by Palace and played in five games for the reserves. Can't say I recall us signing him.
Former QPR assistant Kenny Jackett has left the manager's job at Swansea by mutual consent. He had been the manager at Swansea since April 2004. At Swansea, he won promotion from League Two, lost out on promotion to the Championship in penalties last year. They also won the League Trophy and twice won the FAW Premier Cup. With a loss in the last game, they fell out of the play-off places and currently sit 7th in League One. More on the story here. Good luck to Kenny in his next job. I'm sure he'll get one before long.
That is absolutely ridiculous! He came into that job with no expectations and did nothing but succeed there. Swansea were shit for decades before that, and I'm guessing that they'll be shit for decades after he leaves - with one small patch of success with Jackett at the helm. The reactionary nature of chairmen (and fans) towards managers these days is absurd.
From reading the stories, it looks like Jackett instigated the departure, citing pressure from press and fans. The comments make the team seem a bit surprised by the move. Still, it seems like they would have talked him into staying.
A follow-up on Matthew Rose -- after being let go by the R's in January, Rose has found a new home -- he signed with League One Yeovil Town through the end of the season with a club option for next season. Yeovil is currently in second place in League One.
Inigo Idiakez has joined QPR on a one-month loan from Southampton. He started in his debut last Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday. The move may become permanent as the 33-year-old has fallen out of favor at Southampton.
