Premiership newboys Crystal Palace will visit Loftus Road for a friendly on July 31st according to the official site.

That's the second confirmed home pre-season match. Our discussion of Ajax's visit and QPR's mini tour of Scotland is in another thread, but I figured I'd start a more generic pre-season fixtures thread since the talk has gone off the Ajax match.

QPR's confirmed pre-season friendly fixture list, to date:

    14 July - Nairn County - Away
17 July - Inverness Caledonian Thistle - Away
    21 July - Ajax - Loftus Road
    27 July - Bristol Rovers - Away
31 July - Crystal Palace - Loftus Road

Makes perfect sense. We'll get a good warm-up match against a quality opponent (good, quick attacking side) as well as a nice gate with plenty of away support.

Looks like my pre-season will consist of Inverness, Ajax and Palace (with a day at the British Open in Troon before ICT). Not too shabby! Hopefully followed by a trip to Elland Rd or the Boleyn before I head back to DC in Sept.

Glad you're going to get up to Inverness. Seems like a great place. Wish I could go.

Yes, the Palace match is a good one. Easy for them (no travel expense to speak of) and a good test for us.

Hopefully I'll see you before you head back to DC. I'm thinking about booking a ticket for 21-30 August. I'm leaning toward that week rather than the home opener because the Football League said (in response to an email I sent) that the first round of the League Cup will be that week. So, I could get in three games in one trip.

I assume it'll probably be one home and one away in the league and a 50/50 chance of being at home for the mid-week match. I'm trying to decide if I should book it now and take my chances on the teams or wait at least for the league fixture list (probably can't wait for the League Cup draw) to make sure it's not two away matches in the league (and that one of the really attractive opponents like Leeds, West Ham, etc., aren't coming to Loftus Road around the same time).

Rangers have their first pre-season friendly today, facing Nairn County up in Scotland. News on the official site says that Marc Bircham has turned an ankle, has some ligament damage, and is returning to London. The estimate, before scans, is that he could miss no more than two weeks.

Richard Edghill missed training yesterday with a slight thigh strain.

Good news is that Dan Shittu is training with the first team, as is Nick Culkin.

As if losing Carlisle didn't hurt our central defensive depth, this report and others have mentioned that Arthur Gnohere hasn't turned up for pre-season training.

Oops. That would be Wednesday, 14 July, not Tuesday.

A preview on an unofficial Nairn County website can be found here:

Apparently you lot are playing at Hanwell Town this Tuesday, July 20th at 7pm.

    I guess it's a second-string QPR side?

I'll take my Busan I'cons kit with "Curo" written in Korean on the back just in case. ;)

Speaking of the Hanwell friendly... it was the youth team that played over there tonight and lost in what sounded a good match. 4-3, hope you enjoyed it Blue and White. BTW - did you know that our trialist Hjelde played with for Busan as well?

Oh and another preseason related note - not sure if I've mentioned here before, but our now fearless leader (Bill Power) has mentioned to me (before he became fearless leader) that a US trip next summer could be a possibility. Now that he's chairman and we've been promoted, maybe that's even more feasable. Seeing the Forest reports from the US reminded me of that. Here's hoping for that next year.
