So, much has been made of this new Bush ad trying to scare the hell out of every undecided voter. Comparisons to the Reagan "Bear Ad" from 1984. http://www.georgewbush.com/ The problem is: they just showed the "The Puppies" ad on Crossfire and the audience was laughing. Yes laughing. Not exactly the reaction Rove was looking for. What doyou folks think? Effective? Crass? Are the wolves too cute?
The Bush spin is that this is the October surprise. They're saying that the ad tested so well they held it to the last minute.
Really? Honestly, it may have tested much better if the candidates hadnt spent the last 3 weeks bashing each other over the head, instead its more of the same really.
Not all of us qualified for that Bush tax refund to be able to afford an IMAX; but do tell- is it great?
ya know what is really good for terrorists? sitting presidents that repeatedly ignore high level warnings
you know what else is really good for terrorists? electing presidents that repeatedly try to weaken our defense and intelligence as a senator
yeah we should stick with the guy we already know is one of the biggest f***ups the planet has ever seen
We've been over this. Porter Goss supported the same intel cuts and more. Cheney supported the same defense cuts and more.
there must be some symbolic significance to the choice of wolves as an enemy. my understanding is that historically wolves and humans were allies. think of the story of romulus and remus. think of the domestication of wolves and you have "man's best friend." but you look at more recent cultures and wolves have been demonized, such as they have in russian literature and shakespeare's line about the "dogs of war." look at the use of dogs to terrorize detainees at Abu Ghraib. I saw the ad and I thought they looked kind of cute. But this message must resonate with some aspect of American culture, playing to more modern fears.
I wasn't only referring to cuts, although your valliant attempts to justify kerry's attempt to weaken us during the cold war by skewing cheney's support of weakening us after we had won it, is quite cute... youre always spinning aren't ya superdave???
The referenced vote wasn't during the Cold War, either. Is it possible to make a case against John Kerry without trying to fool voters? Apparently not.
