Hakimi chose to extend his contract at PSG pretty much to the end of his career recently. It's nice to dream about what could have been, but his career decisions show you what would have been regardless.

This was very recent... because he's become the team leader and all of his family lives in Paris now. Just a comfortable place for him. Before Enrique arrived, he was looking to leave. The project changed to his liking.

I'm just saying that fullbacks are VERY hard to find. I think we have left back covered fairly well... but right back is now a problem with very little talent out there. But... Valverde looks REALLY good there lol.

Hakimi's agent made it clear in 2019 itself that he was not coming back to be a back up in 2020 summer. There was no way he'd have accepted back up role with Carva for another 4 more years then.

When you have a generational RB like Carva for a decade+, another starting level talent emerging 5 years into Carva's RM career will have to go elsewhere naturally.

Yes but you take less money from Inter and you grandfather in the right of first refusal or a buyback clause. Chelsea and Arsenal are famous for this. Do you know the last great one to have a buyback? Saliba.

you can negotiate to extend them if you don’t want to trigger them right away. PSG also had it with Nkunku but declined to let him go to Chelsea per the player’s wishes. They got a percentage of the transfer to Chelsea as a result.

Xavi Simmons is another one they keep punting along.

I’m just surprised. Real Madrid were very good at doing this in the recent past.

He's satisfied with mediocrity. That's all I'm going to say without going in too deep into it.

This. At some point, we have to understand that this is just a career / job to most players. Nothing more, nothing less. Hakimi was never passionate about being part of Real Madrid given his trajectory and that's OK.

Hakimi probably knows we're signing Trent. Barring some massive offer from Liverpool to avoid the embarrassment of losing him, it seems inevitable. The bad injury to Carvajal sealed what was already and highly predicted deal.

This isn't a Madrid thing exclusively. I'd respect it more if he'd join Barca than simply be satisfied with being content with what he has achieved, which is what an extention signals.

Hakimi is simply good with being a PSG player for the rest of his life, and that's perfectly ok if that's what he looked for out of the sport.

Mbappe as a 9 in Madrid must work each day on his Offside. He is very fast and found him self too much in offside position. I hope davide work with him on that

There's a sign that he's a true number 9 if I've ever seen one. The fans hate him when he scores goals.

Look they made the CL semis last season and almost always make the quarterfinals. Sure, it's not City, Bayern or Real Madrid... but believe it or not, it's been better than the recent Barca and most all other teams.

PSG to me is on par with Chelsea, Dortmund, Barca, Arsenal, etc. Some years, they'll be better than those and compete for maybe a CL. Some years (like this one), they'll be slightly below. That's their level.

    It's not mediocre.

He's playing in a League that's somewhere below the Bundesliga and above the Eredivisie. If there weren't any PSG wages in play, Hakimi wouldn't even stop by for a coffee.

I think this format of CL is showing Ligue 1's level. It's in line with Bundi no doubt. Bayern, Leverkusen and Dortmund are better than PSG, Monaco, and Marseille of course... however, the mid-range teams in Ligue 1 are quite a bit better than Bundi because the athleticism is higher.

Marseille is trying to cover the gap by signing Rabiot, Greenwood, Hojberg, etc. But they change managers every year which makes it hard to construct any continuity. Maybe De Zerbi stays longer.

I think this is the maximum level of Ligue 1 personally because the economics aren't there. The media deal is a disaster. Point is, it's no worse than Bundi.

The media deal is a disaster because the league is not a good product. Germany have packed stadiums and all games do the same across both the first and the second division.

The media rights situation is actually COMPETITIVE, there companies fighting for these games.

So no it's not "like the Bundi". Dortmund played in a CL final not too long ago.

He does absolutely nothing right. His positioning sucks, he’s always offside and he’s never in the correct place in rebounds. He can barely hit the target, his penalty technique is subpar. He’s nothing special physically, he even looks a bit too heavy to me right now. He’s like a black hole, he’s where footballs go to die.

Nothing elite about him, what exactly is the point of him ? Joselu was more useful than this guy.

If the club management has any balls they will not allow him to hold RM hostage from a sporting perspective.

OK so now there's reason for worry. His athleticism is gone... since it's not injury, it's lack of training and lifestyle. He is not working hard enough and it shows. Heck, he was tired the last 15 mins of the game and he ran the least of everyone on the pitch!

Confidence isn't the only part. I thought he looked quicker... but that's against Getafe and Leganes. As soon as he's playing against a stronger opponent, he looks straight slow.

The spark may be gone. Lack of hunger and intensity are apparent. Made his money and it seems like football is no longer priority #1.
