Fully behind this, with the addition that I was initially excited to see what the football player Mbappe would bring to the team (my excitement for the whole package was gone quite some time long ago). I still expect him to comfortably shake this rust off and explode over the course of the season, but I really hope he improves mentally. He just doesn't seem to want to put in the work, and it's visible. Also, where is the massive presence you'd expect from such a player? We got one of the generation's greatest players and he seems to hide on the pitch at times. That's where a player like Vini shines, he's always present, whether positive or negative. You know he's on the pitch. That's what we need from Mbappe. Anyway, like I said before a couple of times. I expect Mbappe to comfortably succeed and in a few years we'll look back at this period and laugh.
I think giving Mbappe time off from the pressure he would face in France is a good thing now that I've had time to think about it. Just don't window-dress it as an injury. Say that he's having mental health issues and that he needs some time to deal with them. Done deal for me if people are honest with the public. Mbappe has shown bad judgment with his words and actions plenty of times. That said, he's 25 and suddenly has a lot of money. I'm sure I'd make the same mistakes too. As far as his level of play, it's not good but will get better. Fitness and attitude are not the issue thankfully. It's about getting used to a new position, a new role, new teammates, and getting his head right. There's too much history of absolute excellence to throw away just because of 3 months of bad form.
Ok so Deschamps basically said on Telefoot that Mbappe is suffering from depression. Explains a lot. Hope he fights through it.
Kylian asked not to be summoned to friendship games. So it sound more like an a excuse to why he isn't summoned when the France NT keeps looking like crap under Deschamps and they finished against Israel at a tie. I wonder what he will make up after they will lose to Italy today.
Clearly sufferin from depression but what better role model to take him under their wing and teach the virtues of a carefree lifestyle to ameliorate the struggles of professionals sports. GG, it just gets worse and worse. If rumors are true Mbappay could be a mental midget on the Hazard level and he's nearly confirmed it by choosing the pastry chef himself to hang with instead of trying to find form with his national team. France won convincingly 3-1 and looks like a completely different team on the news that Mbappe has been dropped. Thuram as a #9 looks alot like the missing piece for Madrid. There could also be a lesson in all this for Madrid to find its best form if Carlo can replicate the Deschamps method and tell Mbappay that his services are surplus to requirements.
Interesting where were you when they lost to Italy at home with Kyilan or when they finished at a tie at home with Israel without Kyilan. I don't know if you even watched the game or at least the goals, cuz France scored there all goals from set pieces. So the lesson that you are talking about is be better at scoring set pieces?
Would be fascinating if it turns out the guy can't adapt to life outside of France, and it sort of turns out that this would have been mostly the reason he wouldn't leave PSG.
Would make sense how basically the entire world begged him for his signature twice (before he joined Monaco and then before he went to Paris) and he chose to stay home. It's something I can't relate to at all but it would make sense. At the same time what in the world man.
Depression started in France… went from hero to villain in a very short period of time. People on social media have been just brutal against him. He’s also had enormous political pressure on him before he came to Madrid. They’re actually keeping him away from France, hence leaving him off NT. Playing on Real Madrid and having the stature of Mbappe is not the best if you’re fighting depression. Talk about constant pressure. International breaks and maybe leaving him off the club World Cup would allow some time to deal with it. Let Endrick take the club World Cup.
Best to just “leave him alone” as Dechamps stated several times…. I’ve had depression in the past (for no reason in my 20s). My issue was genetic, nothing I could control. So it’s hard to really know why Mbappe feels depressed.
Not the depression. Well, we better bench him so, right? Until he's mentally fit again, that is. You wouldn't field a player with a broken leg and all... Maybe that's why he doesn't press and run in some games. Oh no. Those big meanies on social media were brutal to Mr. Rich Filthy. Brutal, I tell you. Made him have sad voices in his head. Now he can't move his legs as well as he used to Horrible people.
Why is it people think because you have money you deserve to be treated poorly.. like as if that balances out their life or misery or something? Anyways, if he is depressed it's because he is facing reality of those wasted years in France where he didn't develop an iota.
Now that I think about it I've probably been a bit too harsh on the guy, maybe his family held him hostage because they wanted $ while he wanted success at a sporting level. Either way he has to do better on the pitch.
I don't care who or what is causing his depression. These are the decisions that at the end of the day he made and he needs to do the work to sort it out. He wasted his his most formative years in France so now he needs to work through it and better himself not only for the club but for his own well being. We talk about the sink or swim mentality and the pressure cooker of the club, welp, here it is. Hazard MKII not because he's as lazy and unprofessional as Hazard, but it's coming from the same place. A guy who was better than 99% of those around him and then didn't do the work to fulfill his potential. Now he's swimming with the sharks and instead of sinking like Hazard, he's treading water.
French people have turned against him, for whatever reason, after leaving PSG and even before that. I don't understand. He was KEY in their 2018 victory and gave his very last atoms of energy in 2022. He's PSG all time top scorer, one of their biggest legends - whether they like it or not. I bet it affects him on a mental level, at least you would expect it to be the case.
