Along with stuff about him being a horrible person and so on. Pretty outrageous, but whatever people like i guess.
As if Raul was ever dribbling past anyone after he fell off. Raul is the exception to the rule, players rarely ever fall off that fast, that young, without a major injury.
Timo Werner lol. That's the dumbest comparison i've ever heard. How about Benzema's first year at RM where he had 9 total goals. Or years 4-6 when he had 20, 24 and 22 total goals. Or years 8 and 9 where he had 19 and 12 goals. Why did Real Madrid stick with him? Because despite his struggles with scoring, he was critical to helping play for the team and Real Madrid was winning. Also, his teammates saw the value of Benzema. No way Mbappe scores less than 20 goals even in his current form. But if he isn't scoring, I think we can all agree that helping play in a game where Real Madrid wins 4-0 is perfectly fine. Heck, if we win every game 4-0 and his contribution is creating space, I'm fine with it lol.
OTOH Benz wasn't walking around the pitch, he was dropping to be an outlet, he was pressuring the defense.
I was thinking the same thing. I remember people being very disappointed (myself included to an extent) when he arrived and did not look like the player we had seen snippets of at Lyon -- Madrid stuck by him though, even through Mourinho's cat hunting complaints and Higuain's competition, and it paid off. We are nowhere near Hazard/Raul/Kaka levels of falling off.
The last few years, yes. But for the first 5-6 years at Madrid, he was walking a lot. Remember the beef with Pepe where Pepe called him out for not running. Telling Benzema to sweat for the club:
Again I remember defending Benz on this very board for doing things which showed effort like dropping deep and pressing.
❗️One of those close to Kylian Mbappé has spoken about the player: "Call it what you want but Kylian has had a mental problem for several months. That doesn’t sort itself out just like that. You need time and work, which he is carrying out with specialists."— @lequipe pic.twitter.com/QkF5CI2ou1— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) November 12, 2024
Benzema was a very different player and person in the beginning, even lacking fitness and not being in optimal condition at times. He finished great, but had a bit of a troubled start.
He should have left PSG when he had the chance in 2022. Seems like there has been some trauma ever since letter incident in 2023 and having to endure all the tension with PSG for a whole season. Club and Bernabeu fans have been pretty supportive towards Mbappe. Hope he gets out of this.
^ yup, 2 years ago was the time. Honestly, I’m so apathetic towards him as a RM player. I’m not excited to watch him yet. Hope he comes good but his presence in the squad so far does nothing for me. Hoped he’d help give us bigger margin for error in La Liga but that hasn’t happened. Still early but I was expecting more for sure.
Expecting wayyy more, and it’s perfectly reasonable to be critical of him, no right minded fan is saying he’s finished, but so far the excitement he’s generating is extremely low on the field. The El Classico game was a shocking performance and that’s a fair assessment.
What we're basically finding out is that oyu can't will a player to simply change positions just because he's good. People go to the Hazard example because they simply haven't been around this team as long, if you want to compare it to a former experiment of the club, it reminds more of Beckham who we signed despite having Figo and figured it will work itself out eventually.
During BBC era, majority of our attack went through Ron, Benzema and Marcelo linking up on left to center. Bale adjusted to low usage rate on the right wing. Right side was ignored even more post Bale era with Carva being the only threat for years. I think 4-3-3 with hybrid role for Vini and Rodrygo/Brahim sticking to right with less usage rate out of the front three is the way to go. Mbappe will be scoring more soon if we play like we did against Osasuna more often.
Nacho about Mbappe at RM: “Mbappé is one of the best in the world. When you arrive at a club like Real Madrid, it is difficult to adapt, it has happened to everyone. It is not the same to play for Real Madrid as in other places. When he explodes, it will be spectacular.”
Well thats' true. He can be better and probably will be, but 2 years ago was time for him. Now it's Vinicius team basically, he is the main guy
I agree however that doesn't make him immune to criticism especially when he isn't running and giving effort
What does he know? I'd rather see what people on the internet that never kicked a ball in their life believe.
Dude was brought in to be a difference maker and he still has time to come good. Some bad habits have definitely crept into his game, if you want what he does, you have to deliver but that simply hasn’t happened and he’s on a star studded squad which has experienced a lot of success so just adds to it all. His advisors got him paid but his professional development has taken a hit. Put in some consistent professional performances, that’s all that’s being asked right now. He’s so damn talented and still young.
