He needs to be held accountable, can't let him off easy whenever the team wins a game. That's probably the worst thing that can happen is that the team and individual results all improve and Mbappe's poor form and attitude are acquiesced or "normalized" and nothing is said or done about it until we have a Hazard type situation with a lazy bum wanting to ride out his contract and ride other player coattails to trophies.
Vini has been scoring for fun whenever he's playing hybrid LW/LF role going as far as last season. Mbappe did some of the Benzema stuff vs Osasuna dropping deeper and linking up. Brahim was good on the right and Jude made his trademark off the ball runs. Offense looked far more fluid in this set up. Hope we work on this.
Probably an unpopular opinion but he genuinely looks depressed and not all there. Wonder is a mental health break would do him some good.
The fact that people completely ignore that but drag the same negative stuff about him along makes me think it's likely not going to change.
Mbappe has outscored Hazard's entire Real Madrid career within 3 months. Not that this is hard, but football will not see a bust like Hazard for another 10 years. He's the Messi of bad transfers. This is so tiresome.
outscoring Hazard is not what Mbappe was signed for and chased for so many years....he was the best player in the world accroding to many people ,seen as the heir to Messi/Ronaldo and what we are getting is a guy who cant dribble, cant pass, barely have a first touch and doesnt even pretend ti press on the pitch he is the guy we have expected the most as an individual since Ronaldo ...what we are getting is just WOW
When we're losing and criticising him, some people are saying we're unfair for making him out to be a scapegoat. When we're winning and criticising him, some people say we're the problem and not him. When is it ok to criticise Mbappe? I don't know why this happens. Perhaps it's the promise of delayed gratification. If and when Mbappe starts firing on all cylinders, maybe some people want to be able to say "I told you so". It's an easy, safe bet. After all he's been a world class player before. My opinion is that Mbappe of the future should be judged based on the results and contributions of the future Mbappe. The present Mbappe gets judged by his results and contributions today. People are well in their rights to expect and demand more from him right now. He is by far the biggest earner in the whole club, across all positions. It's his job to deliver at the level he's been paid to deliver.
He has one goal in his last seven games and I don't think he's ever had a drought like this before in his career. He needs to bounce back and quick.
The attack flowed well and we scored 4 goals. If we score 4 per game and he doesn't score, then i'm absolutely fine with it. Today one guy scores 3, the next day another guy. This is how this attack is going to function, even with Ronaldo Bale and Benzema we had one volume scorer and two guys pitching in, Barca had the everybody eats thing with Neymar Messi and Suarez figured out better which thankfully for us didn't last long. We played the arguably smoothest attacking game of the season, that's all that matters to me. People watch games like Dortmund and think we do well there but to be honest it's simply desperation and a team shrinking once they lose a game out of their hands. I'd rather see us play positive football than win these "huuuargh, the empire strikes BACK" wins all the time.
It is very damn obvious his problems are of mental nature. This is not nearly the best Mbappe can do. Most of you might find it debatable but to me Mbappe on his very best day is a personification of football class, unreachable to the likes of Vinicius, Rodrygo, Bellingham who are also great footballers. His popularity in France has dropped off massively, people there don't like him anymore. Real Madrid fans not much better, they don't hate him but angry at his poor performances. His former club PSG now his enemy. Rape accusations, people making up all kinds of scandals just to bring him down. This is not easy to handle, as much as it maybe looks like to some people on this forum. There are people who want Mbappe to fail miserably, very powerful people who are seemingly doing very good job on their task.
so many excuses for Kamala Mbappe.....this guy is a bilionaire,he chosed money over football years ago, reject us multiple times and made us look like complete fools now he is here and doest run at all, cant control a ball, cant pass to his attacking teammates that are 10 meters away from him, cant beat a player to save his life but hey people are against him WOW Vinicius got abused so much as a teen but he kept pushing and became the best player in the world, the leader of Real Madrid....but this primadona cant take any critisism or blame for what is going on ....
He wasn't even playing. Hazard admitted he checked out on being a player months into his Madrid tenure. Until we have proof of the same, the comparison is exclusive to dummies and those that pretend to be one.
The point is saying "doesnt matter Mbappe sucked if we won 4-0" is wrong and dishonest, and you know it.
Because he didn't suck. It's pretty obvious. I said "score" not suck, unless it means the same to you, in which case, i wish you a wonderful evening when you go out to score.
IMO, as long as we create A LOT of chances and do well defensively, who gets the stats makes little difference. As 4x4s mentioned, the stats will automatically find the players when this happens. Problems will solve themselves. How the team functions in all aspects is far more important than individual performances. Do you know why Lewandowski suddenly looks like a world-beater again this season as opposed to a player with one foot in the grave last season? You have three guesses... Note: You can criticize Mbappe for a lot of things this season, but effort and an honest attempt to play the 9 are not one of them. He's is giving it his all. It's just not working for him right now. Unless he gets truly demoralized or loses motivation, it will come around eventually as long as the team is functioning.
He did in his first season at PSG when playing right wing. People forget that he was under some pressure before World Cup 2018. He had 21 goals and 16 assists in 46 games for PSG that season. But since he was 18 years old at the time, he was given a pass. He was not playing all that well. With Neymar, Cavani, Di Maria, Verratti, Draxler, Lo Celso, Rabiot, Nkunku, Pastore, etc along with Mbappe, he was a bit lost in play (he cost 180 million euros fee so there was pressure)... it took him until year 2 to really find his way.
The Hazard/Mbappe comparison is weak and no where close. He could very well be past his peak but I think its a mental thing with Kylian. Once he fixes that, he'll be back to his old self.
Points for wittiness, but in his current role Mbappe contributes hardly anything if he doesn't score.
It's all mental now. His speed is mostly back. I remember Benzema couldn't hit the side of a barn for years (as opposed to a few months here)... and when he started scoring consistently again, it just all came back to him and he became better and better. It happens to all the strikers frankly. They all go through a rut sooner or later.
Don't agree with that. Last game, he was dezoning and bringing CBs to him. It gave space to both Jude and Vini to make runs behind those defenders. That was a new twist by Carlo and Mbappe executed.
On a whim, I just searched his posts for "Kroos" in the first half of last year. Does not disappoint in the same sky-is-falling, overreactive whiny complaining.
