Because he went through the exact same thing and is being totally oblivious to it. He even said he had mental health issues because of it, and now he's slamming down on a player going through the exact situation. It's absurd to me. Makes him look like a very bad person.
See, i have to spell things out here because the communication has broken down completely. The criticism is justified, but there is one way to do it, and another. He could have compared it to his situation at Barcelona, where he adimitted that he arrived thinking he'd be a star player but eventually was told to either do what fits the team best or go back where he came from. People forgot that he was visibly miserable there for almost a year, and he admitted so himself. What he does instead, is Bellingham, the player who clearly reached out to him but i'm not going to get into that, is a great guy, and Mbappe is a c*nt and needs to be better. When people did it with him at Barca he pointed out that the "pressure put on players from the spanish press is unhealthy". As soon as he put on a suit and held on to the microphone, all that is forgotten.
I didn't see it that way. He's an analyst for a TV show, and for once we have an analyst who actually went a bit deeper than "he is still settling" or "he is struggling" etc.
I do see it that way because those are actully real people. I wouldn't want Germaine Pennant on TV calling out players for being lazy either, just because he's suddenly on a TV screen instead of the field. You have the opportunity to practice what you preach (be more understanding and reflected based on your exerience) and instead you do the opposite and just slam on the player because it makes for better TV.
Well, it’s called angling. Almost everybody on mainstream sports networks do it either for the views, or to stir up the pot. Producers love that. People need to realize that the hosts don’t really have as much freedom as they think. Just treat the tv personalities more like entertainers than actual sports analysts.
Deschamps is going to announce a new permanent captain for France and remove Mbappe from the role. Also, this is punishment for making Deschamps look like a fool during the last NT break. completely Deschamps’ style and also a good move to not make it public. my opinion only.
At least he'll always have his Stockholm memories. Oh right, whatever happened to those rape allegations? It seemed like opportunistic garbage journalism at the time, but it's like absolutely nothing new came out on that front.
Now you’re talking out of both sides. Earlier, you (paraphrasing) said you can’t bench someone you’re paying tens of millions a year, and now you’re saying Henry was told to do what the team needs or leave. Sure, players have more control today than they did back then, but the point still stands: if we’re going to pay Mbappé all this money, the least he can do is act like he wants to be on the field. It won’t be long before the fans start letting him know how they feel, and I’m here for it. He needs to snap out of it.
He’s going to be a lot more unhappy when the Bernabéu starts booing him for acting like a petulant child. And before anyone brings up Ronaldo—yes, he had his moments of entitlement, but he delivered. Ronaldo scored goals and performed from the start; he didn’t make us wait years to see him shoot the ball right into defenders.
Good news. Stay and work with Carlo and Pintus away from the NT circus. Needs to get better...no way around it...must work harder.
It was less about the allegations… and more about Mbappe asking to be left off so he could heal and work out. Instead, he went on a party blitz. Not a good look for Deschamps who is an authoritarian.
Oh come on, you yourself not long ago criticised our players for being babies and now you are suggesting that, what, Henry's words will sink Mbappe into deep depression? It's one thing to be out of form in terms of scoring or being at the right place in the right time, but another thing to not even try to run either in offense or make some concerted effort to defend when a player is basically walking past you.
Why does he need to work with Pintus? His issues are mental. He isn't finishing any of the chances he is getting and he isn't giving any effort outside of when the ball is on his foot near or inside the box or if he is expecting a pass near or inside the box.
I'm criticizing Henry for being a hypocritical wanker, what I'm accusing him of can be detached from Mbappé entirely. He was an incredible prima Donna as a player and was severely humbled at Barca made to change light bulbs and scrub the floors. I can separate the artist from the art in this case.
Nah lol. Transfer fee, signing bonus... Same shit. You spend money either way. It's literally one of the most expensive transfers of all time.
It's going to be fun reading (some of the posts in) this thread down the road. I'm disappointed in his mentality, but I obviously expect him to turn things around fairly comfortably and fairly soon. Some of the takes here are outrageously wild. What I'm more concerned about is how this team can look like a sunday league team with zero cohesion.
