Fast wingers don't burn out quickly unless they defend. Think Ribery, Robben, Overmars, etc. They tend to play well into their early 30s. They aren't taking hits physically. Strikers that play in the middle of the pitch battling CBs... they tend to have shorter primes unless they're poachers. Just take a lot of hits.

Wingers get injured though and Mbappe hasn't gotten injured. He's 25 going on 26.... not 30. If he had a history of injuries, I'd agree with you.

Wait, is that first part true? How is that even legal :laugh:What if a player doesn’t care about the NT and passes / doesn’t want to represent. They can ban you from club football for not playing in the Euros? Bizarre.

    It's required.

If you refuse to play for your country when called up for an international, FIFA must impose a 2 match ban on club football for that player if the federation requests it. Lose your wages for those games. Increased bans per incident until permanent ban.

It happened with Claude Makelele. He announced his retirement from international football in 2008 but the French manager chose not to recognise it and put him in the squad. Makelele said he had retired and didn't want to play. The French manager came out and said if he doesn't play he will get FIFA to hand him a club football ban.

Makalele had no choice but to play.

Only way a player can duck out is if the NT doesn't meet FIFA regulations and standards... i.e. Cameroon in the recent past.

Another one is if you haven't played for NT yet and you have more than one eligible country you can play for. Until you decide and play for one, you can duck out.

They have to retire from football. If you are playing for a club, you can only retire from a NT if the NT accepts your retirement. Makelele is an example of a NT refusing to accept a player retirement who conitnues to play for a club.

Reason is simple. Clubs would never let their players go to NT games. Perfect example is the Olympics, which is not a FIFA event. The rule is really meant to stop clubs from blocking players as opposed to players refusing to play, although it applies to both.

Most NTs will not block a player. Domenech was just a douche manager for France. All players want to play in World Cups, the most popular football event in the world by far, so it's extremely rare to have such a problem.

The real question is who scores more this season, Mbappe or Rodrygo? :ninja::ninja::ninja:

So there's a rape investigation that's happening at the hotel Mbappe was staying in Sweden. Occurred during one of the nights he was there. Mbappe went on Twitter to deny being involved in the case... and took a dig at PSG saying "Interesting that fake news like this comes out right before there's a legal proceeding." He means the hearing for his unpaid wages. PSG didn't appreciate the insinuation lol.

Forget the football. This is now a reality show lol.

The France Media is sad and pathetic joke. Best thing will be for him to quit the France NT and let them win trophies with Dembele and Kolo Muani while they sign Deschamps for another 12 years.

I think we agree, just for different reasons. The gist of it is that this has damaged his reputation and his credibility, which were being questioned already.

If it is more than a one off and is has actually become a pattern of behavior he's not going to change, then it will likely become a problem sooner than later.

Wow, that sooner was alot sooner than later.

Or should we have expected stories like this to start popping up once we realized the man enjoys a good lap dance to go with his pint.

It's not the French press making this up. It's coming from the Swedish press. Abit click bait to include Mbappe in the article. The only thing the Police have disclosed so far is that it happened in the hotel Mbappe stayed in during Thursday. Nothing about Mbappe.

Still, sounds ********ed up and I’m guessing it wouldn’t hold up if something like this was also brought up in European court. Unless it already has?

Hope he sues. There was no reason to bring his name up in that article about the rape at all.

It has. It held up. Playing for NT is part of your employment contract essentially. This is absolutely set in stone.

It's not factually wrong in any way. All the article said was that a presumed rape investigation has started in the hotel that Mbappe stayed in Sweden. It didn't say that Mbappe himself had anything to do with it. No basis for a lawsuit.

Bro we know you're a PSG fan so you're probably jumping up and down for joy but there was no reason at all for his name to be mentioned. A poor woman was raped so viciously, it was the hospital who demanded charges be pressed. She didn't even want to do it according to the articles.

So why tie Mbappe's name in this at all? Who cares if he stayed at the hotel. The woman who was raped should have her assault being blasted in the press because of a footballer who had nothing to do with it.

"The coach wanted to make me come back, even though I told him I did not wish to," Makelele said at France's training camp. "I really wanted to stop. The fact he put me in his list changed a lot of things. Because of the (Fifa) law, because of what may happen to Chelsea, I had to come."

    https://www.news24.com/news24/makelele-forced-to-play-20060831

"He's played in the biggest game you can, the World Cup final, and now he wants to retire but the coach told us if he does not play for France, he won't be playing for Chelsea. We know the rules. You are a slave, you have no human rights.

"We have no choice. The rules are there, the law is there. It is easy to understand, there is no doubtful law. If you don't play one match (for France) you are suspended for two (for Chelsea). If he misses two games for France he misses four for Chelsea."

    https://www.eurosport.com/football/...8/jose-makelele-a-slave_sto952685/story.shtml

There is so little issue with this. Only time I can remember it happened for France. Almost every time, if a player doesn't want to play for the NT, France lets them leave. Now, if it's amicable, they can come back (like Zidane and likely Griezmann). But if it's not friendly, you're done (Cantona not wanting to play CF for France in the 90s).

It has? Damn, got a link? Can’t find it. FIFA always puts a buncha shit in those contracts so while it might be set in stone there, that your contract is binding to NT / FIFA ecosystem, it seems against European laws with regards to individual labour rights. Very curious about this. Sounds messed up.

According to Swedish media quoting a source it's actually Mbappe that is being investigated. Right now its reasonable suspicion of rape and sexual harassment.

PSG have reacted to Kylian Mbappé's tweet insinuating that the club is spreading false stories about him!

"Honestly, it's a shame. PSG is responsible for everything with him.

He didn't score any goals (apart from penalties) for Madrid? It's PSG.

He missed the French national team matches even though he says he did, but he's not injured? It's PSG.

PSG are now making up stories in Sweden. We will ignore it and keep our class."

They said they'd ignore it, but didn't lol
