It's worse than I thought. According to Swedish media, he's been in Sweden since Tuesday. He was seen at nightclubs on Wednesday and Thursday nights. RMC is reporting that he's in Corsica now and is expected back in Madrid on Monday.

So the training pictures are from when? lol. Sunday and Monday?

What's more, the pictures were taken during the France-Israel game. So the social media post he made "I'm with you" in regards to the game... was bs. He was at a dinner party and didn't watch the game even.

This guy is becoming a PR disaster.

Why do people think you can't workout/train while on a vacation? Who is to say he isn't spending his entire mornings working out then doing stuff in the afternoon/night. I think this is a non-factor convo.

It looks like shit brother. If you or I call in sick and we get caught partying at night we're screwed. What part of his rehab program from injury is flying across Europe to stockholm to stick his willy into some female?

    It's inexcusably immature.

    According to Swedish media

    - Mbappe went to Sweden on Wednesday together with Mukiele
-Partied Wednesday and Thursday night at a private club with around 30 guests invited by the players most being females
    - Left Sweden Friday afternoon bound for Ajaccio.

Not to mention one of the reasons Deschamps gave for Mbappe's absence... was that instead of flying across Europe to play games in different countries, Mbappe wanted to use that time to train and recover. And now he flies to Stockholm followed by Corsica.

What a complete wanker. I would be offended if Mbappe kept the France captaincy after this. It should be stripped from him as soon as possible.

So much for caring about performing for the club.
A few more average performances and the crowd will make their voices heard.

    Dumb ass.

I didn't like the whole "we didn't get enough vacation in during the summer" Portugal trip either, Bellingham comes back from that first thing that happens he's out for weeks.

Just unserious, and I don't think Carlo is the kind of authoritarian coach to stop it.

The Mbappé thing is even worse because he checks out of national team duty and uses the free time to mess around. Dummy.

I've been saying it for a few years now this guy isn't what everyone hoped he'd be. He might still put up good numbers but he's not worth the wages and putting all of our eggs into his basket.

This isn't the Uber Eats league and this isn't some mickey mouse club like PSG. Mbappe is used to being able to do whatever he wants. He's lucky this wasn't ten years ago when the fans were more fickle than now.

Deschamps is though. He's tough as nails against anyone who crosses the line. I suspect Mbappe is in for a rude awakening. Not the type of manager who forgives very quickly either. Not sure if Mbappe gives a damn at this point... but if he does, it may get him back on track.

Not a good post. Mbappe was absolutely immense until after world cup 2022 (basically January 2023). He played every minute of every game at 100 percent. After that, it was a slow slide.

He was dominating Champion's League (9th all-time scorer) without much help from his teammates due to early exits and team defense that fell apart. He almost beat Real Madrid all by himself if not for PSG's defensive collapse remember? He did the same against Messi's Barca too.

Like at PSG, he's going to score goals. But he's just not the same player. He had a lot of equity to burn at PSG given his history there. At Real Madrid, he hasn't built any equity though. So he needs to keep scoring. The scoring was the consequence of dynamic play in the past... he would have been considered great even if he had scored half the number of goals. Now, goals are the only contribution he makes. So disappointing. Now I know how Brazilians feel re Ronaldinho, Neymar, etc. Guys just lose the plot and the peak ends. Same issues too... same trajectory.

I thought Mbappe was smarter than this. Very wrong apparently.

(Not saying any of this as a rebuttal to your comment, just to be clear.)

I get all that, it's just...I dunno, it's been a bit of a common theme to a lot of things I've written and especially in the last four months or so, Mbappé was dealing with back problems during the Euros, obviously he smashed his nose in and broke it as well in the first game and played the remainder of the tournament with a mask he was obviously quite uncomfortable with, he's dealt with the thigh problem recently...quite honestly, he could probably use a quick escape somewhere far outside the magnifying glass of the Spanish or French media, have some fun, do something that isn't football-related while he has the chance to. I understand French fans will be pissed at him not playing if he's "healthy" (I'll ignore the shades of gray in the word "healthy" for the purposes of this comment) but this is also Nations League group stage games...WHO CARES? I'll watch the Germany/Netherlands games perhaps, I couldn't care less about the other games Germany plays. This competition is a money grab, these games are meaningless to me. (Said from the comfort of a westerner, fine, you got me.) Let Kylian get some rest and enjoy himself before he gets back to work with the club that pays his extremely handsome pay checks.

Obviously it hasn't been the most seamless transition yet to Madrid, and maybe some of that's his fault for not coming here sooner or something (if you want to find ways to place blame at his feet), but obviously moving during a Euro summer is difficult, he didn't have much of a chance to get a pre-season with the club so everything he's trying to figure out, he's having to figure out on the fly in games that matter, and, to be completely honest, I've felt since before he even signed that there was every chance that the best of Mbappé has already come and gone anyway. That's not me saying he'll be a bust, that's this is Hazard all over again (he's already matched Hazard's goal output as a Madrid player), but the guy who scored 40+ goals at PSG might've been his peak and it's already in his past. I think peak age in this sport is going to gradually drop as long as we're making these guys play 60+ games a year and running them all across Europe or across the world all the while lots of these guys are playing in extremely active high-pressing schemes (...maybe not so much here, lol).

I care about if these guys report to training when they're supposed to, that they're putting in the proper preparations as the team demands, and that they're ready to go on game day if healthy to play. Again, I know what you mean when you say "you don't stop being a Madrid player when you're away from the field" and I think you know I have plenty of respect for (most of) your takes by now so I'm not saying this in a rude or dismissive way, but for me a) that stuff should most apply to how you conduct yourself (being courteous with others, giving back to the community, etc.) and b) if fans and media have a problem with players giving themselves a break while on their own time, that reflects entire on them as opposed to how it reflects on the player. And I think you would agree with that too, unfortunately that's not the reality any of us live in.

Agreed but he could just say that. Instead:

    - He tells Deschamps that he needs time to recover and that long repeated plane rides aren't good for him (literally Deschamps said this). So... he takes two long plane rides. Makes Deschamps look like a fool.

    - He also says that he didn't join the France squad due to injury... yet he plays a full game right after and he goes on the nightclub recovery program.

    - He tells the world that he "owes Real Madrid" and has reporters do PR about the training regimen he's doing during the break. Now we hear that he's traveling Europe to go to nightclubs. I understand you can train and go out. At least do it in Madrid, not all around Europe ffs. Remember, this is the guy who commented Neymar and Verratti "It's important to sleep early and eat well. Some of our players do not do that." Either shut your mouth about it or do what you preach.

    - During the last international break, he tells French reporters that he doesn't listen to criticism because 'what people think of me is the last thing I'm worried about". You can feel this way no problem. But as the captain of France, you're essentially saying that you only care about yourself.

There's more of course but I'll spare everyone.

If he was playing very well, then I'd have an issue with missing the France games. But ok with the rest of it because he's obviously taking care of himself. This is not the case. He looks slow, his game is imprecise, and he doesn't run much during games.

I'm done with him as my favorite player. He doesn't care what his fans think... ok then, time to move on.

Oh they haven't even started roasting him. If this is too much for him he's toast come March, April.

Apparently, fans care. If it was any regular person telling you they'll be working hard to make it up to you and then you'd see them taking the piss, it would make you think their words have no weight, and that they're an unreliable person. Look, this whole thing just really doesn't look good for him.

Valid point. I don't think anyone here is disputing that.

We just saw Pepe roll into his 40s while playing at an insane level. Modric playing well into his late 30s. You're arguing (or at least it comes across as such) that a 25 year old is past it already due to the schedule... Bruh. I agree there's too many games, but if you're past your best at 25 it's not due to busy schedule. It's more likely to be due to either a catastrophic injury (which Mbappe hasn't had), poor motivation or poor discipline. I'm not saying Mbappe's past his best btw.

I think we can separate Mbappe the player and Mbappe the person, and evaluate both separately. I know for most of the season we don't care about Mbappe the person, but I think it's only natural that we'll touch on that topic when something like this happens. So far, he's getting on well with his teammates, so all's good. But it does tend to feel like he's treating people like fools a bit, and I hope that doesn't affect how he's treating his teammates in the future. Cause all this is still the honeymoon period. Real pressure, extreme pressure could start very soon if we lose to Barca on the 26th. And with great pressure comes great turbulence.

So maybe some overreaction (by me first). A French media pundit mentioned that Mbappe was in Sweden for 2 days because of... a regenerative medicine treatment. Platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow aspirate, etc. Apparently, there's a next-gen center over there. It's a 2-day treatment and you need to rest several days after to allow for maximum impact. The only way it fit the schedule was to go there on these days so he could attend practice on Monday or Tuesday.

That's why he was out partying those two nights... not because Stockholm is his favorite party place (he'd never been there before).

His communication needs work though, if true. Could be nonsense unless someone else picks this story up too.

If ITS about phning It in why not take any other job where you dont have the amount If high expectations he would have for.playing at Madrid, where If he didnt Performa ve would basically be a laughingstock.

I think he Will be at RM at least 3 seasons. Thats 180 plus games for RM..... He has a lot of Time to turno It around evennwhen up until Noe he has looked underwhelming at Best.

If he wanted to phone it in, he'd take the 1 billion per season offer the Saudis made to him.

I think it's excuses. After Bayern got hosed by Leverkusen at home, Davies flew to Paris first thing right out the game to party it up at the fashion week last season. Guess who was also there. Our boy Kylian with Neymar.

I understand that these guys are young, but you chose this lifestyle. If you want to live like any other regular person, go work a desk job.

Sounds like somebody got a bit of cash to put the cape on for our guy.

Water is wet. This isn't anything new from Mbappe, dude will be 26 in a few weeks, safe to say he who he is.

2022 told me everything I needed to know about Kylian Mbappe, I think I wrote something like "this guy ain't about it." Which is fine, not every player is a psycho about winning, but he isn't "the guy" here and some need to adjust their expectations accordingly.

From my perspective Kylan could stay at Madrid and go out party in the next international break also, the same goes for Camavinga and Tchouaméni. as long as Desempenho is the head coach of France they aren't going win anything else.
Same thing goes for Vini, Endrick, Rodrygo and Milato. until they won't appoint a normal coach to NT instead of Dorival Júnior they shouldn't go play with the NT in the international break(the next Copa is in the summer so it's a different thing). they can let Neymar have all the glory let him lead Brazil NT to win trophies as he did before.

Who would have seen that coming. The France media lashing out at Kyilan for no reason.
it's like they are just looking for bad things to write about him since he left P.S.G.

And RM fans still underestimate his commitment towards the team and in his professionalism.
