We have one of the best coaches in the history of the sport and people call him an old man that cant coach. Fans aren't a reliable source of objectivity.
His form matches the team's form. It's mainly the hype around him why we has more scrtuinty than others.
Yeah, expectations and so on. We played a tooth and nail first half and a snoozer second against Villareal where the difference was made by two brutal individual efforts. I think AS described the game perfectly when they said "Madrid switches the flow of the game constantly, between slow, and very slow".
Still he is atrocious in 1 vs 1s against defenders. I was wondering who is the better dribbler between him and Vin and now i have zero doubt Vin is levels above. Clearly, I am talking about his current state and he will probably improve.
He started training on august 9th...that's just under 2 months. Needs more time....the fact that the team is playing crap is not helping. That being said, he needs to improve his personal fitness and technical level asap. Too many lost balls due to bad touches and passes. The rest will depend on the whole team...i.e - figuring out how to play with each other within Carlo's system
I’ll happily sing his praises if he gets to level. Until then, I think it fair game to say how bad he’s been.
If he's that bad and still our top scorer, it's a shocking statement about how bad the team is playing, no?
Both can be true. The team has been very poor and partially a reason he hasn’t been able to do as good as he can. But his individual performances have also been below standard. Him having the touch of a brick wall, not able to get past player, create chances on his own are all down to himself. He’s lucky Vini has no ego and let him take a bunch of pens to get his numbers up.
He is being out scored and out performed defensively by a 36 old lewa that is past he's best... he has the worst pressing stats in the league. he has 5 non pen goals in last 19 matches, If your Ronaldo and Messi you can get away with out doing defensive work if your scoring hatricks every game.
Well, we have had so many times when team played shit and Ronaldo won games out of thin air just due to his audacious talent, people expect the same from him perhaps, to pull the team through when it is not at its best- it is not an unrealistic expectation when you claim to be the best in the world, add to that baggage of the past doesnt make things easier for him.
I just expect him to have a great touch to control the ball better and do much much better in one on one situations. He used to destroy a single defender facing him. I simply don't see the explosiveness. It might be due to the recent injury i don't know.
Lower numbers than 50 year olds Aspas and Lewandowski and lower than 33 year old Antoine Griezmann. Also so much for Vini and Rodrygo not doing any defensive work!
“El día que no ataques, tienes que ser el mejor jugador de la historia defendiendo”Luis Enrique a MBAPPÉEsto es cine de arte🚬😮💨 pic.twitter.com/0tmZeU371R— Gerardo Suárez (@jera_suarez) October 3, 2024 Look at Enrique trying to convince Mbappe to press.
I mean I think its still early and I know he'll come good but it is frustrating to see him so blase on the pitch sometimes. You'd think he'd come in humble and ready to help the team after all they won WITHOUT him.
These numbers look absurd. Entire teams measure at about 15 to 20. What's the metric for those? Minutes? Defenders face 10 to 11 high intensity pressures per game. Who averages 70?
I mean I get it but using lower than 50 year old Aspas is wild since that guy is in first place in that stat lol
La Liga defenders when they see Mbappe trying to pull off his Ligue 1 tricks. pic.twitter.com/Jb2LxNi3C3— Footy Humour (@FootyHumour) October 5, 2024 give him clermont foot and i bet he’ll prove all of us wrong.
You spent three years sucking on Hazards toes to not even give Mbappe three months I sincerely believe you just support players you fancy at this point. Shame he's not more attractive I guess.
I don't because those numbers make absolutely no sense. These can not be individual pressures because that would mean the opponent defense has the ball long enough for Aspas to press them 70 times in, and if they are in minutes that would mean that Celta are chasing after the ball for 70% of the game. What the hell? Even Vinicius and Rodrygo. 55 PRESSURES!? How often does a defender have the ball for them to even press that much I notice an espn logo at the bottom and from what I've gathered they recently fired their stat department and it's gone so bad that they get community notices on Twitter almost all the time. I think the per 90 is where the match goes absolutely bananas.
Not to mention that it’s entirely dependent on a team’s style of play. Real Madrid does not press high. CFs only get involved in a press when you’re pressing very high. We are very non-typical team in La Liga tactically. Also, rumors that Mbappe is getting his France captaincy stripped permanently after his stunt this round re injury.
Mbappe doing 1v1 physical therapy. Groin injury is bothering him. Apparently, he can’t push off as hard as he’d want. Explains why he looked slow last 2 games when he was getting more and more explosive previously.
Say what you want about the stat but Mbappe could be putting in more work off the ball. I don't care if we're using stats or just observation, for me he looks very lazy at times.
