Why did you campaign for Osimhen (who is the exact opposite of what we did with Bellingham) if you thought that we had the right solution?
The idea that Jude is having injury problems due to some altercations in the box is so bizarre and makes no sense.
You stand upright while a huge specimen crashes into your shoulder intercepting your run into the box then. There's a reason why we were talking about Endrick being too small for a CF.
So that we don't buy Mbappe as he disrupts the whole gameplan. There, at least I can answer without dodging through asking a completely different question.
Bellingham didn't even sustain his output through the entire season. Without Vini carrying the team in the second half to final third of the season we're toast. Of course Mbappe is a square peg into a round hole, but this is Real Madrid, we've done this for decades.
While i am not currently going through a honeymoon phase with this team, they deserve a lot more time before they get considered a failed experiment.
He hurt his shoulder jumping into a tackle, then continued doing that even while his shoulder was strapped. He still does that now, helps us win the ball high up the field but throws his body around like he is gluten-free Carvajal. I don't even think he ever played like a target man for us, jostling with CBs for crosses. If you look at his goals from last season, a lot of them were because of late runs into the box.
I don't think people realize how crazy Jude's performances are this season from a physical/effort standpoint. He's defending literally to the corner flag like a pit bull. He's creating the link between the defense and the forwards (only one; Valverde is more of a slasher not a passer/playmaker). And he's also sprinting into the opponent's box to create offense. No let down either... all at high intensity. He'll kill himself by February if he keeps this up. It's too much. His work rate is higher than Valverde's I'd bet lol.
We were rounding into form before Mbappe got injured. His injury threw us off. Carlo did not adjust well setting the team up and we paid for it. It's not more complicated than that. Some players made costly mistakes while others didn't play up to snuff. We will be okay
I’m sorry but no. He hurt his shoulder and never really recovered from it, avoiding surgery and using painkillers. This idea that Jude is physically weak to play that role because defenders are apparently rough on him? He is big and strong. Lesser physical players have been an outright #9 in that role for years being ragdolled and did just fine. But somehow Jude isn’t capable of like what: mainly having these physical battles during setpieces really? Nah, I don’t buy that for a second. If there is one thing that will break his body is the workrate, sprinting up and down the field like a madman. But not coming up against defenders a couple of times during the game.
Aka “French turtle privileges” lol. Any other player here and you’d be quite satisfied with the evidence to call him utter garbage and a failed transfer.
Why dont we do a poll on whether turtle will be a flop or a hit and come back to it at the end of the season ?
If we take off the fan goggles several of our players are not as good as we think they are. I would start naming names to paraphrase Mike Tyson.
Amen. Either not as good or currently in bad form. I’d say most them other than Courtois and maybe Valverde to some extent re the later.
I think you are confusing multiple players here. Bellingham looks like he might be twice as tall as Endrick, he's nearly 2 meters. He might need to put on some muscle but he definitely has the frame of a CF. The consensus was that Mbappe was too small to hope that he could adapt well to playing in Benzema/CF role and that it was only wishful thinking that he could play as a lone forward or be like a wrecking ball in the box. It's almost as if you're talking about two different players. Bellingham is a similar case to Benz in that he was a good playmaker with enough height and weight to play central as a "link up" player holding the ball with his back to goal and be a challenge defending against on crosses, set pieces and 50/50 balls. Hindsight is 50/50 and all that but this wasn't hard for most people see plainly, what we are really depending on is Carlos' ingenious way of being able to create tactics to suit the players at his disposal rather than having a rigid system he can't deviate from.
How would we even define "flop" and "hit". If Mbappe wins the Pichichi and Golden Boot but the team doesn't win any titles and Rodrygo, Guler and Modric leave the club - was it a hit? What if he gets injured? Even I can't blame him for that. Maybe he pulls a Hazard and despite watching most games from the stands or the bench he still somehow inspires and wills the team to a La Liga title in the midst of a global pandemic.
he can barely dribble and get past players ,it is honestly shocking to watch him this is not the player we throught that we signed ....even his first touch is like almost non existent
He shows flashes but they are few and far between. Today's game he controlled a long ball while fighting a defender and while simultaneously upped the pace of the attack by driving the ball with his shoulder. That's the sort of quality you'd hope to see more consistently after all the years pushing for him.
He's not a 9. I'll keep saying it. He looks no different than 80 percent of his games at CF when he was with PSG. He looks lost and drifts. He'll get a few goals but no impact on play because he doesn't have a CF skillset or moveset. He does not like to receive the ball in congestion. He likes to receive balls on the move with some some space in front of him. It's that simple. Even when he does receive the ball with space right now, he's standing still when he gets it. Just to further illustrate... his typical action is to get the ball while moving so he can either slow down or accelerate depending on how defenders come out to attack him. When he's on the move, defenders tend to back down and he has things he does when defenders are on their heels. If they come up and challenge him, he looks for linkup... where he passes, runs behind them and looks for a return pass. He can do none of that with his position at Real Madrid most times. He did it once with Jude 3 games ago (goal) and once today with Vini on the counter (1v1 with keeper). He needs those situations 10 times a game... not once in a blue moon. Typical Madrid... buy a star and play him out of position. I've seen this film so many times.
You keep repeating this but i will tell you again, Mbappe does not play as static number 9 like your trying to suggest he is allowed to roam around. Stop using this CF nonsense as excuse for he's meh performances.
Running around and receiving the ball on the move are two completely different things. He's playing in between the CBs most of the time at the edge of offsides. His back is to goal a lot. Everything you're seeing, i've seen a dozen times or more at CF with PSG. It's no different. Why is it so hard to accept the data for what it is. If he had looked different at CF when at PSG, i'd be all over him. But it is EXACTLY THE SAME. And this goes way back to when he was 21 years old. Cavani went down and they put him at CF... looked like this and it was short lived. Icardi went down and they put him at CF... looked like this and it was short lived. Only time he looked better as a 9 was with Messi and Neymar (the few times where the 3 were healthy). Last year... Enrique used him as a 9 starting at the end of January... and his form dropped like a rock because he looked like this. Sooner or later he's going to get frustrated and he'll explode publicly. Seen this one too 3 times.
Plenty of times where he got the ball at the LW side because Vini moved to the center. He did a grand total of dick all with it. Just his own game looks very poor. He can’t dribble and his passing is mediocre. It’s a rough watch. You see Vini being relentless taking on players and tormenting them. Mbappe has none of that. His positioning can only be an excuse to a certain extent.
So much negativity for this guy wasn’t he starting to play well before the injury? Wasn’t this his first game back from this injury? did we look any better without him? Suffering our only loss? didn’t we win this game? I’m not saying he is playing at a high level or that he’s the reason we’ve won games. Just that there seems to be a lot of nonsensical negativity for this guy
