This is not really a fair assessment of Ronaldo's first year, your making out like he struggled, in the first 5 games he scored in every match and he had a ankle injury that kept him out a few months which is only reason he scored less than higgy in the league. I watched he's first few matches again and he's first season he's general play was like 20 levels above anything Mbappe has been showing an i think people forget how good off all round player Ronaldo was early in he Madrid career, he was still the class winger version at that time. As for Mbappe he has scored 5 goals in he's last 20 matches, had a poor euros, poor cl knockouts and poor start to Madrid career, that's a big stretch of poor form and I have seen very little improvement in he's game as a player in last 3 to 4 years. No one should be saying he is flop or anything but its fair to say's he has been underwhelming for a while now and maybe he has already peaked as player.
It's interesting how PSG thought Mbappe would recompensate them for letting him leave for free. They realizes the optional 3rd yr being player choice was a massive mistake in a moment of desperation. Then they're salty that he won't pay them when he played out his contract and left for free. Apparently they're now seeking "mediation" from French league authorities. Mbappe's reps rejected it. They know the French league is basically puppets for PSG. He wouldn't get a fair mediation anyways. Smart move. Take PSG for every penny. Should have sold him when Florentino offered 200 million. Get fkd. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/41221664/kylian-mbappe-rejects-mediation-60m-pay-dispute-psg
I think it's a little premature to start talking about either Mbappe or Jude leaving, but I definitely see what looks like it could be smoke, and where there theoretically could be smoke there also may be a fire. So there's that. Long term I wouldn't be surprised to see Jude leave if feels like he should be in contention for individual awards but is being overshadowed by Mbappe. Ditto Vini, Rodrygo etc. It's a shame because I don't see Mbappe as being levels above any of them but I feel that Florentino put so much of his personal stock into the Mbappe transfer over the years his ego won't let it fail and many heads will roll before he even think of giving Mbappe the axe. Not good at all for the club but with Perez you have to take the good with the bad since he basically changed the rules for becoming President and now basically holds the club hostage.
Ronaldo is one of the greatest players ever, if he's the standard we compare players to, Vinicius is the new Ivan de la Pena. It's pretty telling that Mbappe attracted a lot of new members that are either pro or anti Mbappe. It shows how important his presence is in the sport.
I agree in general with this statement. Not the "20 levels above" but noticeably above. Mbappe is NOT on Cristiano's level and he never will be. Cristiano is a once in a lifetime athlete/footballer. The problem Mbappe has is a combination of how long we've been waiting for him to join, and that he joined an already winning project. We, understandably, expect him to give us a 0.75 goal per game kind of stats, but that's probably still a bit unrealistic at this point. I think his performance should be reviewed around Christmas. It'll give us plenty of data to work with, big games ahead as well. I don't care about France NT and his performances there, I will only rate him on his form with us (different, coach, teammates, system...)
Sorta agree here. The fans have waited for Mbappe for long that the hype and expectations have exceeded the player’s ability. He’s very good, but the progressions and achievements of our own players like Vini and Jude have them pretty close even to Mbappe’s peak form.
You're rationalizing stupidity Anyone who expected this guy to show up and automatically assimilate to this team without and an adjustment period, growing and learning pains is an idiot. The irony is he has adjusted better than I thought so quickly because had he been more in-form with his shot he'd be averaging more than a goal a game.
It is what is. I just described their thought process. At the end of the day, being the “prized” signing will put a target on his back.
Don't know about you guys but unless we get any of it, I don't really care, and tbh I want him locked in with what we do.
I agree, but the less legal battles he has, the more he can be locked in with us and our project. Also, I think people are celebrating PSG losing a legal battle more than Mbappe winning one.
yes it's more directed at PSG I think. They are doing everything they can to ruin his image. Petty ex behaviour......acting very small.
The money they lose is probably pennies to them, even more so than for Mbappé, it should be wise to just put this Mbappé thing behind them. I'm not even sure if bonuses count towards FFP
PSG would rather drag this through and use PR to make Mbappe look bad... and then pay because there is no other possible outcome. Law is completely clear. The LFP is in PSG owner's pocket and they couldn't even do anything. And yes, interest accrues. But they don't care. Anyhow, good game by Mbappe today. I personally liked it from an offensive standpoint. His sharpness is coming back. Once his finishing clicks, the floodgates will open. His explosiveness is getting better. Defensively... oh my. I play more defense lol. But that's nothing new. Long term, he has to add an air game imo. Hard to be a proper CF without some kind of aerial ability. If Benzema could do it, and he was truly atrocious too until the last 3-4 years, so can Mbappe. Re Vini-Mbappe... not clicking much. Vini is used to being the provocateur. There are two of them now. Mbappe has some idea how to handle it since he played with Dembele last year. But Vini has no experience. The issue? He drifts out when Mbappe is the one attacking with speed as opposed to making an attacking run. Once he learns to do this, he will get a lot of goals either via rebound or assist. Vini will come around. He's poor now but that happens. He was poor for a couple of months last year too.
Have ADHD? Can't read more than 10 lines of text? Ok I'll dummy it down to caveman level. PSG - egocentric owners Mbappe - good game Vini - needs to get better and he will Hope all the neanderthals here are happy now.
There's a match thread, the world isn't waiting for a letter from the front whenever we play a game. It's also funny that you think you're having some kind of great insight in things and speak from authority. Fan fiction at its best.
Awww. You're having another personal crisis. Need a cookie to feel better about yourself? Here you go So you're saying that you don't want people on a football message board to provide their personal insights, whether right or wrong, to initiate discussion... but would rather keep it short so monkeys like you are happy. Good thing you're a mod loool.
See this is the thing. When i do as you do and call you a spastic, i'm not a good mod, but if i would be a "good mod" i would spam yellow cards and points like we used to for you completely spamming this thread with your daily bio. This is a general thing but maybe folks here are taking the loose approach we take for granted. How about we hand a couple year long bans and mutes like we used to, to see how people like the more authoritarian approach?
Its okay, 4x4s just takes a couple of years to warm up to people. Sometimes decades but what can you do. And by warm up I mean barely tolerate.
