Him being ready is one thing and being used another. Carlo will likely reward those who contributed towards our CL win last season to close out that chapter

"He did not play us. And if he did he surely did it because his brother and father were threatened with career suicide. And if his brother and father weren't threatened with career suicide he did it because the money was too good. And he didn't do it for himself he did it for his family. And if he didn't do it for his family and he did it for himself, well, what do you expect of a 23 year old. And if he did it as a slimy sign of greed because he's just such a person, that's human nature and we'd all likely do the exact same."

I've turned a new leaf. I am happy Mbappe joined us, and I think he'll be a sensational signing. But what's this need to d***ride this guy all of a sudden? He hasn't even played a minute in our jersey. Times will come where he'll earn good graces. Don't be giving it to him for free just because he kissed our badge 3 times.

From the club's perspective, I believe they'll have their hands full with the Mbappes. They'll see how nicely they play VERY soon. I trust Jose Angel Sanchez and Florentino to have a way to deal with Fayza. But the fans will play a big part in this as well. We already see the Mbappes are elite PR merchants, and getting the fans on their side as soon as possible was always a way to add leverage. Next we're going to see soon who the Mbappe media people are etc. This is all very much a serious operation. And the goal is power. Most fans don't see it because we've never had a chance to deal with people like this. Even Cristiano PR machine wasn't this sophisticated.

Kaka was just as big as CR btw... it never worked out at Real Madrid. But it was huge.

The fees for Di Maria and Modric were huge too at the time. They cost a lot more than what PSG paid for Ibrahimovic, to put it in the proper perspective of the times.

In the early 2010s, Real Madrid had 8 of the 10 largest transfer fees ever paid btw.

I think what he went through for last 1 year at PSG has had an effect. He was used to their pampering for 6 years and then got to see the other side. He's using the word humility a lot in recent weeks.

Has any player at a top club said he was "violently told" regarding a club president? I think he will appreciate how professionally RM is run.

I think some people want to give him some "cover" because what they are not saying is there's a good chance he won't live up to the expectations. And to be fair when he made the choice to joing PSG and then to stay at PSG he chose money over success and his career stagnated, just because he made a course correction later rather than sooner doesn't mean succes will automaically follow.

Because this transfer has been built up and over sold for for so long the expectations are very high, however, while he was living it up in Paris players like Vinicius and Bellingham caught up to him and he may not win Balon d'Or's and Pichichi's, he may turn out to be a role player and take a secondary role. Which will probably be fine as long as the team wins titles, but, the question will be asked what was all this hoopla and years long courtship for? Why all the backslapping when we were doing just fine without him?

    That’s because of Southgate’s resignation.

Some people are simply excited to see another great player suit up for the club they support. And some people are capable of taking into account the various reasons Mbappe stayed 2 summers ago ($, family, external pressure, Paris factor) and not stay butt hurt enough to make almost daily negative posts about him trying to kill any positivity about the addition.

We play against Atalanta on the 14th with no games between 7th and 14th. It'd be impossible for him to play that game from start. Maybe a symbolic cameo appearance.

Why would it be impossible? It's not like Mbappe has been injured for months and would be returning without match sharpness. He played in Euros.

Bale had no pre-season, was made to train alone by Spurs and joined at the end of transfer window. He started and scored vs Villarreal right away under Carlo.

If Bellingham is getting shoulder surgery, Mbappe is very likely to start vs Atalanta. Don't see Carlo starting Endrick in such a game.

Honestly, we should send all the B team to the USA pre-season tournament and let all the big guns prepare for the UEFA Super Cup. :D

Bale was at least training. Mbappe will not have trained for a good month and is coming in completely new to Pintus' training regimes.

None of our new players got to start last Super Cup despite training with the team for a whole summer and us playing the new midfield trident together all summer.

Even if Mbappe is fit enough to start Carlo will likely start those who played in the CL last season.

Can see Jude wanting to delay the shoulder surgery until after the Balon d'or announcements.

At best I see Mbappe coming on in the second half at worst not at all during the game.

Makes no sense. Either get it now or wait till next summer (and miss CWC). CL format has changed and we will be playing two teams from pot 1, two from pot 2 etc. Only top 8 gets direct entry to round of 16.

There will be key CL games during December and January. Makes no sense to get surgery during middle of the season.

I totally agree. It's a feeling I have given he might not have this much chance to win balón dor in a long while.

If he can get the surgery sorted ASAP that'd be great. Will also be lovely to see Arda in the whole behind Vini and Mbappe.

We are a serious club. Surgery timeline based on BDR voting? Come on. Even most selfish players in history won't dare suggesting such thing to a non-circus club.

Plenty of players have had their surgeries delayed for various reasons, some even against their own wishes.

We arguably won't need him for the whole first half of the season. Delaying the surgery one month will do us no harm.

The league phase will be between September and February. If it's true that he'll miss 2 months he'll only miss October and November if he gets surgery end of September. Which means missing 4 CL games. I definitely think this is a plausible scenario.

It isn't. He isn't daft to put BDR voting BS over club and we aren't gonna allow that with any player. If he gets a surgery, it will be this summer so that one month of recovery is before the season starts.

I'm excited too. I just don't have the need to rewrite history to paint the new signing as a martyred saint. The urge to do that is what I find questionable.
