It used to be a insult at PSG because everybody was accusing him of deciding which players the club signs, sells, hell even benches. At RM it started becoming more of a meme and this world cup which is turning him into the best WC player of all time is turning into a compliment. Basically something akin as when Blatter called Cristiano a commander/general whatever.

Just curious, what do you mean by that? He's just 18 and has already been essential in Barca winning back-to-back La Liga's and Spain winning the EURO. To be honest, so far he's been much, much better than I expected him to be all these years ago, and I already rated him highly. His potential downfall might be his upbringing, as he doesn't seem like he has a good social safety net (his father's example isn't necessarily a good one..). But don't be fooled: if he can get himself locked in, keep working on his mentality and stay out of trouble (off the pitch) for the remainder of his career, he'll be one of the greatest players of the last 20 or so years.

Our three biggest stars dont maximize each other. Thats "the roster" youre referring to. It happens sometimes. You cant have everything, just pick a lane and go from there. Either way it has nothing to do with Mbappe needing to lock in.
That isn't what I said. First by locked in I meant defensive effort and workrate given to the team off the ball. Secondly, the guy is known to miss a couple of easy chances and bury a hard one. If he had scored a couple more of those easy chances with more off ball workrate he would have already entered the GOAT conversation
If he was taller he could have scored more headers too. while were at it. Mbappe is what he is. Its a million times easier to change whats around him to accomodate for his flaws than to expect him to overcome them. Its not more goals from Mbappe that we need. We need other players to score more and we need to concede less. This will not happen by Mbappe growing spatial awareness and work ethic out of thin air, but by copying France's gameplan and surrounding him with similar player profiles as much as possible. Its the club that needs to lock in not Mbappe. They should have known that he is flawed before they bought him and either not buy him or buy him and then build around him. Not be blind about his flaws or hope he resolves them on his own.
By the time Yamal is as old as Mbappe is now,. Mbappé will be retired doing the Henry job on television. I don't get the comparison. Isn't Yamal younger than Endrick?
Yamal is one of the best wide players on the planet. On the ball, he has everything a top level player needs. He just lacks a bit of common sense when it comes to talking about opponents off the pitch, which just motivates them, and also plays the same style regardless of the match situation which costs his teams when they need to not concede at the end of games. But his dribbling, passing and shooting are all top level. Even in this World Cup, for me he has looked like Spain's most dangerous player. People are only saying he is having a quiet World Cup because he is doing what Dembele used to do at Barca - he does great work to get into a dangerous position, but then shoots just wide or just misses the final ball by a few centimetres. He almost scored a couple in the Belgium game iirc.

Professional athletes, and even college athletes, and some high level high school athletes in the US all receive some degree of media training for just this purpose. It doesn't always work, because athletes occasionally say and do stupid things, perhaps due to a lack of education and intellect. It must be different in Europe, because many/most figures associated with Barca say stupid things all the time in the media. Deco also opens his hole, and says stupid, idiotic things that give away Barca's intent and plans all the time. Laporte is always opening his hole, too. It used to irritate me that the club apparently give their employees zero training and zero guidance insofar as dealing with the media, but here we are. It used to irritate me that Barca would allow a teenager to talk at all to the media, but I guess it doesn't matter to them. [shrugs]
