He did this at PSG, scored bucketloads of meaningless goals and then in important moments he was missing in CL. Completely missing.

Did he play against Arsenal last year in CL? Did he do anything? Nothing again.

    Talk to PSG fans

    Meaningless goals..smfh

Bro is single-handledly responsible for 60% of our goals.

LMFAO, we would be mid-table in LaLiga and not even in the UCL playoffs without his goals..

The above has no bearing on him being utter sh!t today..

Mbappe’s only scored two more non-penalty goals than Ferran Torres (in 572 more minutes) feeding off pens. he has plenty of terrible performances like today.

Mbappe has 37 goals (12 PKs). That's 25 goals from open play.

    Ferran Torres has 15 goals

The #2 scorer on our team (who can't do PKs) has 8 goals. EIGHT.

After the penalty shenanigans last season, I wouldn't discount penalties as easy goals lol, especially a last minute game winner like today.

Why? They both play in the other competitions.

And why exclude PKs? Do we also exclude the points we got out of them in LaLiga? Do we have anybody else on the team who can score them?

He scored a last minute penalty so I dont think characterizing him as a choker is the move here

I've realized something with some of our delusional fans; they are always looking for a scapegoat. But refuse to look at the 'big picture'.

It’s absolutely insane to think that we’d be better off without Mbappe.

Vinny who’s been awful for 2 seasons, Jude who’s on a dry run and not scoring, Rodrygo has been inconsistent for 2 seasons…. But yes, if Mbappe wasn’t here they’d score boatloads??? GTFOH

I agreed that we played poorly last night. Mbappe had a bad game. I was not blind. But suddenly, some of us cancelled what he did in the rest of the season. I will give a run of poor games before I turn against my own player.

Vin Junior had a good game. In the Vin Jr thread, some of you got angry at him for last night.

The guy is one of the best at penalties, and we all know that if he wasnt taking them, Vinicius would be (and would be missing half of them).

I got nervous at the end when Rodrygo looked to be the one to take it bec. he was holding on the ball for so long.

Not that I didn't trust him, but it just seemed off at that time :D

The man scored 2 penalties against Martinez in the WC final in crucial moments, doubt he gives a shit about Rayo or Batata.

As long as Brahim was not near the spot, I am fine. Actually, I thought that Mbappe would miss. And I still hate the Panenka.

I think Rodrygo held on to the ball in order for the Rayo players to start crowding him and trying to psyche him out with Mbappé waiting off the scene in peace.

If that was intentional, it's a little piece of genius. A game within the game, always cool to see stuff like that.

I'll explain by saying people should watch the video. He passes the keeper, has the IQ to lift the ball as it would have been blocked by the defender otherwise, and was a little unfortunate to hit the underside of the crossbar.

    Yup. I noticed that too.

It gave space for Mbappe to focus.

Yep. No way he would have scored if he shot low. Chipping it was the correct decision. He was just unlucky.

On the other hand the general rule is hard and low. I used to get frustrated with how often Cristiano would bang the ball straight into the GK (or the wall) until I realized it was strategy, he was forcing a deflection to keep the scoring chance alive, rather than going for the Puska's award with every shot.

The problem is once again Mbappe has become such a one dimensional player (he almost exclusively relies on goals scored from penalties now) but either way he never trully developed a left foot. Not the kind that can send a, hard low shot into an empty net or bend it far post with an outside of the foot trivela.

Time will tell, he can improve parts of his game if he wants but alot of it comes with being focused and putting the time and effort into training and I'm not sure he's willing to do that at this point of his career.
