Which, if you haven't just been watching football for the last 10 years, is normal. The type of winning we did from 2014 to 2024 is not normal and it's a huge testament for those involved. I guess people got used to it or weren't really watching football before that time and believed this is the new "normal".
Yesterday's goal highlighted the issue with Mbappé for me, the team isn't built around or for him. Yes he scored, but we still have this issue with gaping holes in the middle and no one actually playing the striker role. That creates concern around easier goals going in and chances being created. I see three options. Mbappé is coached and instructed to stay central. Vini and Mbappé are coached not to occupy the same space with one of them staying central. We sell Vini and buy a striker. This doesn't happen, Mbappé will pick up another goal scoring trophy but we'll win fcuk all.
Let me add to this. Winning all those UCLs within a short period of time is an anomaly in modern times and is very difficult to replicate. But that is the least of our worries. This club should be capable of winning La Liga every 3/5 seasons. I've been a proponent of improving the team's consistency when it comes to the league. That imo, is a pretty realistic goal to set. Barca has been steadily catching up, and will surpass Madrid in Liga trophies at the current rate.
The club has done everything in it's hand to discount and downplay the value of domestic titles and Spanish football in general so I'm not surprised that this translates down to the team. The club just loves the champions league/European trophies way too much.
I agree, though its a given, given our history winning 5 in a row and Bernabeu's impact on the trophy.
