People don't talk much about that 98-02 period. That was when I absolutely fell in love with Raul and Morientes.

Is that Tchouameni he runs around? Is he back in training?

If our team doesn't fall apart defensively, we will have some fun.

I have been highly ambivalent about the Mbappé signing for at least 2 seasons now but in the back of my mind was always “damn it would be fun to watch this dude week in and week out tho”

Between Vini and Mbappe our attack is going to be incredibly entertaining

Oh god, please no. Not training montage videos uploaded to social media. This can't be a good sign.

As long as Mbappe doesn’t dance and whoop it up with PSG if they knock us out of the CL, we’re ok.

Mbappe will soon be. At home at the club he was destined to play for. :inlove:

Just to understand the popularity of Mbappe... France is training in a small town in Germany called Paperborn. They're using the local club's grounds for training. Per usual, they allow fans to come to watch. Well, they've received over 100k requests to see them train per session for only 4k spaces. Of the 4k fans that got lucky, over half have Mbappe jerseys (mostly local players, youth players, and other kids). He hasn't trained yet as he has a sore back... but whenever he comes to say hello, it becomes mayhem. French media calls it "Mbappe-mania":

Imagine watching a club throw itself at a player and getting rejected time after time like desperate single mothers working at the strip clubs when it's pay day at the Amazon warehouse next door and the 2nd shift manager shows up with his crew. Then when he finally agrees to join you almost ten years later, you're thinking to yourself this was all was entirely a coincedental happenstance down to fate instead of some obsession by the club's President who isn't accustomed to getting "No" for an answer. So long after every other reasonable and rational person had lost interest and given up pursuit he continued chasing a player who was playing hard to get while living it up with a sugar daddy oil club.

He legitimately only said no to Madrid once.
    - As a youth, Monaco and Lyon were the best academies in France in the early 2010s. PSG stepped up a few years later. Lyon has fallen off, unfortunately. Other very good ones. But if you add location and the quality of the A squad, these are the top. Real Madrid does not have the same level of academy. You can just look at the number of top-quality players that each produces as a benchmark. So Mbappe went to the best academy possible for himself.
    - The second time... BBC was the front three for Madrid. Mbappe was told that he would not be a starter when he would first join Real Madrid. CR, Bale, and Benzema had those spots. PSG guaranteed him a regular spot. No brainer.
    - The third time... we all know about this one. Only legit time he said no to Real Madrid.
    - Fourth time... he said yes.

That's not what I'm saying. People act like he's spurned Real Madrid at every turn despite Real Madrid being the best choice for him. No. Real Madrid was the legit best option for him twice and he said no once (the first time).

Mbappe has acted in his best interest, most people here acknowledge that, this isn't the club he always dreamed of playing for comic aside, he's here because he thinks it helps him accomplish his goals.

I don't think so entirely. If it was a combination of power, money and fame that he wanted, he could have gotten more of all three at an EPL side... more emphasis, higher signing bonus and higher wages. EPL is far more watched than La Liga. He would also become the centerpiece of every team there. They would build an attacking concept centered around him.

He's made compromises to come to Real Madrid. No question. So it's a good sign for Real Madrid fans.

When was the last time a player from the EPL won the best player award? How many Champions League titles have EPL teams won? He's in Spain to win the Champions League and best player awards, period.

That is not a fair question in the era of Ronaldo and Messi. Nobody else got a look during that era. To me, EPL has replaced what Serie A used to be. How many Player of the Year awards did Serie A players win before CR-Messi? Plenty. Haaland should have won it this past year too now that we've passed the CR-Messi era.

As long as UAE is still funding Manchester City and Perez is still running Real Madrid, the EPL is not going to be the new Serie A. But as long as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, etc does not step up, La Liga will never be the EPL or the old Serie A.

Wait... So that was not a fair question because Madrid and Barcelona have managed to capitalize on generational players? That doesn't even make sense.
