I really don't care about Mbappe has to say. He doesn't strike me as an intelligent player like Kroos or Carvajal.
He is motivated by only one thing, building up his bank balance. Winning is not important, awards not important, Madrid was the number one place in the world where he could take home half a billion dollars in the next four years, and that's all that mattered.

I don't think this is the best time for interviews from him. Up your level a bit then come out to defend yourself. I assume part of this is because of the Sweden investigation that has not been closed yet by the way.
Yeah, you would not usually go out in public until you have at least some leeway or positive balance with the fanbase. IMO, it will be good to at least hear his thoughts.
You cant expect footballers to have sound political opinions. Its a right wing world. Even Mbappe opposing Le Pen wasn't due to some deep insight, it was because of superficial heuristics. Id rather have a fully politically illiterate footballer who is (obviously) right wing but doesn't go around spreading his nonsense, than a semiliterate one who is liberal and tries to tell people they should be like him, or acts like hes knowledgeable. It actually achieves the opposite effect.

Because everybody is playing internet psychologist about a guy they don't know. He's having a horrible time in front of goal, anything else is a reach and kind of irrelevant.
Being aware of endorsing a horrible person makes it worse. But then again, there is nothing an athlete can't get away with as long as he plays well so it really just checks out.
