I guess if people take Cokie Roberts seriously (although I no longer do) then someone named "Candy" should be acceptable. It kind of makes sense to me that NBC (as the parent of MSNBC) and Fox were left out.
I would accept anyone from FauxNews if we can have either Colbert or Stewart... And I'm not joking....
I don't think they could have picked a more boring, mainstream group of moderators. None of those people are going to do a goddamn thing to hold the candidates' feet to the fire for the inevitable evasive/non-answers.
I've been disappointed in recent elections with all moderators, even those I thought would be good. I'm looking at you Gwen Ifill. So, I really don't care.
Candy is an uber liberal. Let Candy and Bill Bennett co-host the debate. Both work for CNN, both are civil, and they are on the opposite sides of the political spectrum. That would make for a good debate panel.
Fuck that let a Green and a Libertarian host, they would hit the candidates from both sides, no fucking soft ball questions.
I think the best format would be to let the two candidates have a free fourm dialog. Have them ask each other questions. Any chance Obamie would agree to that?
I think they should handcuff them together, and then let them riff on Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis lines from "The Defiant Ones."
I don't think Obama would have any problem going head-to-head in a free forum dialogue. After all, he didn't do too shabby in this...
Perhaps. I don't know. By no means do I think Romney is unintelligent. He might do well in an open dialogue. My point is the idea that Obama wouldn't do well is stupid. But then....based on the source of such idea, it's what I'd expect.
I have no doubt Romney is very, very smart. But his positions are so very, very dumb that they become effectively impossible to defend when he can't just deflect the tough questions.
More concerned with the lack of the LP and Green candidate than whoever is moderating this farce. Where is the League of Women Voters nowadays?
http://2012.presidential-candidates.org/ Here are some "good" candidates. Declared 2012 Democratic Presidential Candidate Pro-life Activist Randall Terry At a glance, it may seem a little odd for a pro-life and anti-LGBT candidate to run for the Democratic nomination. A closer look however, would tell us that an estimated 30-40% of Democrats actually shares the 52-year old Terry’s views. And for those who consider this as nothing more than a publicity stunt by an anti-abortionist radical, think again. Randall Terry is planning to spend close to $3 million for a 30-second slot in the 2012 Super Bowl Declared 2012 Independent Presidential Candidate Stephen Rollins Stephen Rollins is an actor, writer, producer, director and business owner. The 37-year old, who once played for the New Jersey Rock n' Rollers in the RHI league, has a vision and a goal to restore our American Identity and return the country to its glorious roots. It is time to restructure our budget, tax code, education, and energy plan. It is time for someone with a bold plan and the will to fight for bold solutions. Let’s put party politics aside and do what’s right for this nation. Let’s restore our American Identity. It is time for Stephen Rollins. Declared 2012 Republican Presidential Candidate Jimmy McMillan The former mayoral, gubernatorial and senatorial candidate for the Rent Is Too Damn High Party announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination on December last year. Explaining his decision not to contest the Democratic nomination, a party he was formerly registered with, karate expert McMillan was quoted as saying "the rent is too damn high." The flamboyant Vietnam veteran also gave some words of advice to President Obama, “If you don’t do your job right, I am coming at you!"
Didn't he get busted because the Rent Was Too Damn Low? IIRC, he was living in a ridiculously cheap rent-controlled apartment in Manhattan a while back...
