Well our run is over, drop some your final opinionated points on our Mexican NT/Futbol and its various aspects leading up to this WC Exit.

err my quick points as they come to me:

    1. Our League sucks, its Mediocrity establishes Fake golden auras around players enabling types like Bofo and Medina to infiltrate our National team months before a WC via ONE SEASON of smashing on garbage teams like indios and company. Other than Hernandez what other hyped player from the league wasn't an NT bust? (Sabah?, DeNigris?, Vuoso?...etc etc)

    2. The Mexican NT coach position is like the presidency....they come in looking liek shinning saviors full of spirit....walk out insane and looking drained (Vasco die).

    3. We ALWAYS enable our own failures via our own stupid decisions and placing our future in others hands.

    4. Future is bright?....Next four Years:

Our shining glimpse of hope for the future:

    Guardado,Gio,Vela,Chicharo,Barrera,Moreno,Juarez

Key players Confirmed to be gone or possibly gone in 4 yrs:

Marquez, Blanco, Salcido, Osorio(34 in 4 yrs), Maza (31 in 4 yrs), Torrado (35 in 4 yrs), Jona (Butt Hurt)

Just like back then the issue was our forwards, i think the enigma for the next four years will our CM's and a few of our defender spots.

    5. Our Forwards...mucho regate, mucha velocidad, Mucho pase, mucha vision, mucho potencial, muchas promesa...y los goles cabrones?

    6. Our midfield....few Work horses, but wheres the creative ones?

    7. Our Defense....cept for juarez and moreno.....aged and shakey V_V.

    8. our keepers.....decent ones on the fukin bench -_-...enter dinosaur between the posts.

Maybe you guys should start by sending a real Copa America starting 11 for 2011.... instead of Olimpicos just so that maybe you get to the Copa Conf.
I mean, if it's really about improving, then play the best 11 against the best Conmebol teams because that will ALWAYS be your thorn...

Keep your chins up Mexican MNT fans. You are going to get to ride the same horrible roller coaster again for the next four years. See You in Rio.

Despite the disappointment it has come to, in the end, there are some bright spots to consider when looking back at the bumpy ride that just came to a close:

    • we beat Italy (in a friendly, but previously our record against them was 0 wins 6 losses 4 draws)
    • we beat France (previously our record against them was 0 wins 5 losses 1 draw)
    • discovering more gems: Barrera, Chicharito, Juárez
    • we got recognition from haters and random people (non Mexican media) that had no idea how good we can be when all pistons are firing in sync
    • we can play a very dynamic, open game that is fun and exciting to watch
    • though we have some aging players, we have some young talent that is barely maturing

I won't dwell on the negative things (those are self evident) or try to justify why we beat Italy or France ("they sucked, North Korea would have beaten them", etc.). I'm just trying to consider some of the bright spots. We have accomplished some things. Not as much as we wanted. Maybe this doesn't represent progress. Maybe I'm just having a hard time throwing away the time and emotional investment that I've given to my team for the last four years.

I dont know if this person is just trolling, but if not. 1) CONCACAF is making us take a U23 team, we have no say in this. 2) Even if we won copa america, we're exempt from representing CONMEBOL in the confederations cup, just like our clubs are exempt from representing at the CWC if they win Libertadores. 3) Really, outside of Argentina, there is no "thorn".

I think CONCACAF did the right thing telling Mexico to send a reinforced U-23 team. It's probably the only way the young players would get any meaningful playing time against quality competition.

People are unrealistic, this team is what it is. Not even with few lucky bounces can we win the World Cup. The World Cup is meant to be won by organizations with direction, talent, and structure.

It sucks, but that's the way it goes. You just don't send some so-so players mixed them in with some regular players and win it. You have to have bona fide stars. I know we have some promising forwards, but 4 years from now I hope there are more answers for this area. Forwards that play regular minutes with top tier team and score often. Midfielder that can create passes and control the pace of the game.Defenders that have played in some crucial games and have seen adversity and dealt with it. Goal keepers that can save your team when you snooze. You can see it with Rafa. He has that thing that all our players should have in order for Mexico to hoist the Cup.

I hope change comes and I'm telling myself it has come. More players are in Europe giving a go, but even more have to go.

On top of all that instant replay must be in play for next world cup. Such crap calls that have plagued this World Cup are a black eye for the game.

I'm saddened by the early exit of Mexico although I try to remain positive. Here's a summary of what I have witnessed as a foreigner but a DIE-HARD MNT in the last 4 years (2006) internationally:

    1) Mexico has captured the eyes of the world. In 2006 We only have Borgetti and Marquez as active expats. Now we have more than 9 players playing abroad: Vela, Gio, Maza, Salcido, Moreno, Guardado, Chicharito, Guishe, Osorio, Marquez, Nery (I know).

    2) We will add more exports to that list: possibly Barrera, Juarez, Aguilar. if we are lucky Memo Ochoa will somehow go to Europe...Our existing Euro exprts will possibly go to better clubs.

    3) We won Gold cup 2009 impressively first time in USA in God-knows how many years, We won Bronze Medal Copa America 2007 (A very inspiring run I might say), runner up Gold cup 2007

    4) Pachuca became the first Club to won a title outside its confederation in Copa Sudamericana 2006

    5) We beat Italia and France for the first time. That is impressive.

As a foreigner who idolize Mexico, it is quite impressive to witness these. What do you think?

We just have to keep our hopes high. We will get better. We can start with little yet realistic steps such as Chivas to win Copa Libertadores, Winning Copa America, Sending more players to Europe, Winning Gold cup 2011 to get the ticket to Confed 2013 and so on.

I think a good indication that we're growing are foreign fans ;)
We don't have fans because we are Brazil or Spain, but I think it's a young and fun team to watch with a lot of potential.

Anybody have a link or know exactly what spot we finished the WC at. I know the US is higher then us, were we last of the top 16? Maybe South Korea was last of the 16?

The problem is that its non of concacafs buisness to tell our federation what players we can or can't select. Whats next they are going to encourage us to choose at least one player from every club team so as to encourage club teams to produce better players? CONCACAF is just covering for the US and their lack of depth as us getting to the final at the GC and 3rd place at copa america made them look bad.

This WC was a fail IMO. The group wasn't as tough as we thought in the end, and we managed the same results as 06, 1 win, 1 tie, 2 losses. We couldn't beat SA, lost to Uruguay when we were in position to control our own destiny and have a favorable road ahead. Some players still have horrible mental blunders. Aguirre's awful lineup decisions really hurt the team before the start of every game, putting friendship before anything else in some cases. The good is that we will have about 3 or 4 more players in Europe. The bad is that the team is in the same position as 4 years ago.

Well, it didn't hurt as much as 4 years ago... that's about the best thing about that game.
