I'm pretty sure sure Trump was repeatedly sodomized by Roy Cohn. Not that it excuses his behavior, but I can totally see it happening, and probably why he is so over-the-top trying to be a "Macho Man" <cue The Village People>
I see the American legal system is on tip-top form as usual... The more I see of all this the more I question whether Trump will ever see the inside of a jail, despite others protestations to the contrary.
Can we have the Too Long: Didn't Watch summary? What did Cannon do know, and what does the youtuber think?
Ditto. Naughtius, it’s good form to give a sentence or three summary. If this is about Trump floating her name as an AG pick, yeah, we already know.
I stopped after the first few minutes, but it's about how the case of the guy with the gun who waited outside Trump's golf course (sometimes labeled as an "assassination attempt") was assigned to Cannon's court, and his lawyers motioned for her to recuse herself because of her history of bias in favor of Trump (the potential victim in this case) and she did not recuse herself, saying that there's no way anyone could have a reasonable belief that she is biased in favor of Trump.
What’s that Kasparov quote that was my sig for a while? Something like, their goal is to annihilate truth. Great phrase (annihilate is a very underutilized word now because it’s a word for extreme circumstances, and most people in or reporting on politics don’t realize we’re in extreme circumstances.) I feel like I’m fighting to keep my fingertip hold on reality. It’s exhausting.
Sorry about that. but... Basically, yeah. She's based to favour Trump and she will likely be his AG if he wins and with the SC already saying anything he can argue is part of governing and that's is OK by them, we've got a complete shitshow in the offing. This after him having committed crimes over a number of years and he STILL hasn't been sent to jail. This is why, when I hear people saying he'll DEFO see jail time, I question the accuracy of those statements.
She will never be his AG. He says that crap beforehand, but once she sets in free, she’ll learn that for him loyalty is a one way deal.
She's given this defendant better than average grounds for appeal, if he's convicted, assuming he doesn't seek an interlocutory appeal, which he probably will.
Well...Mario was born in quite cold Montreal and he could fly but I'm not sure if he can swim. He's right up there with Gretzky, Howe and Orr!
Maybe but, tbh, could he find another person to be AG who will follow every diktat he comes out with? This woman sounds like she will do everything she's told.
Pretty schnazzy for a garbage truck. But I'd like it better if the brakes failed on a large hill 1851754949316665554 is not a valid tweet id
And honestly…exactly what is she supposed to do? Say yep…a reasonable person could have a reasonable belief that I am biased for Trump. That would…correct me if I’m wrong here…immediately be incorporated in its totality in Smith’s motion to have her removed from the docs case. This is just silly….of COURSE she’s going to respond that way. She has to.
Well, although I haven't studied the procedure in federal courts, I'm pretty sure, like many state courts, there's a middle ground she could have taken. In most states, unless the motion to recuse is just patently frivolous, the judge who is the target of the recusal will usually at least pass on the recusal motion itself to another judge in the circuit for review. That judge will make a recommendation so at least it doesn't look like the target judge is deciding on their own recusal. But she didn't even do that here, despite listing a ton of reasons an independent judge would review. She really does seem to be a moron, despite her academic background.
I get it. But wouldn’t that open her up for the some other judge to adjudicate all the clearly biased shit she DID do in the docs case and say yep…that’s clear evidence of your bias for Trump so you should recuse here? And then…that judgement would be used to move for her removal in the docs case? To my knowledge….no other judge has been asked to weigh in on that because smith has so far refused to ask for her to be removed. I think I commented back when this case landed on her docket that this was very very bad for Trump. That it would be malpractice for this guys attorney to not file a motion for her to recuse. Edit: I guess I didn’t elaborate because I thought it was obvious what I was implying
