Hang on... I thought Trump liked Hannibal Lector. DIdn't he call him the 'late, great Hannibal Lector'?
These are like shares in a company, so they only get money if they sell. But if they make a market using 30% of the shares (usually started with lots of freely-given tokens in what are called "airdrops"), even if there is a pretty high rate of volume and demand, you can't sell 70% into that. Most of these operations keep back around 20% of the tokens - enough to still remain in control but small enough that they can sell most of them into the market and extract all the money possible. This number was developed from the trial and error of thousands of rugpulls. Usually these kinds of operations don't have long term interest. Maybe they are banking on Trump's involvement to keep a high level of interest for a while - and from neophyte traders instead of crypto-bros - and slowly sell into what they expect to be a growing market. But this is a bit of uncharted territory. It's the kind of thing tried by the largest companies, not startups, and it rarely works. Then again, the NFT market has crashed, but Trump just made $2 million from selling another round of his Trump NFTs, so maybe the Trump-specific market operates differently.
the thing about these DeFi schemes is the whole point of DeFi was a supposed work around to be able to sell unregistered securities cough cough crypto investments. who looks at and thinks wow what a great opportunity to invest in some unregistered ponzi securities and get rugged?
but even supposed sophisticated investors do this. remember when it turned out the crypto hedge funds basically put all their money into a handful of ponzi schemes?
True. It's often those investors that think they more than anyone else because one time they went against the grain and got lucky. So now they are more susceptible to bad deals.
Speaking of facing the music... Trump loses, via a summary ruling from the judge, to Eddie Grant for Trump's unauthorized use of Electric Avenue in 2020. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-loses-electric-avenue-copyright-lawsuit-2024-9
Oh nooo!! There's a street in a town in Western New York actually called Electric Avenue and every time I've been in this town and I turn on that street the first thing I do is go "oh nooo!!"
After brummie upset me, now Kim Darroch, ex, UK ambassador to the states, is getting in on the act... Trump ‘likelier winner’ unless Harris tackles two failings, says ex-ambassador Kim Darroch says the Democratic nominee must focus on US swing states and avoid repeating Hillary Clinton’s errors ... Darroch argues that the Democratic campaign is at risk of making two hugely important errors. Urging Harris to be “laser-focused” on voters in the key swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin won by Biden in 2020, Darroch warns that they may drift back to Trump unless Harris is able to offer “some crisply worded, specific, targeted policies to bring jobs and hope back to these blighted neighbourhoods”. The second error is that Harris appears to be hiding from the media, repeating a mistake made by Hillary Clinton. “Back in 2016, Trump was ever-present. He would accept any and every invitation. He would even, unbidden, phone the morning news shows to offer his views on the day’s issues. By contrast, Hillary Clinton locked the media out – and lost.” I don't know if he's right but I have heard that last argument, (of keeping the meeja away from the candidate), elsewhere. Not sure if it's fair or not. I know people will point out, (probably rightly), that different rules are applied to Trump but the thing is we all know that's just how things work. There's no point in bleating about it.
They aren't keeping media way from the candidate - it's just every media hit is a time investment from a limited time budget so they focus on channels which reach the key demos they need For instance is you look at a national outlet like CNN, you may only reach a few million at peak times, and they mostly won't be in the swing states, and they mostly will be older and then how many of those people are persuadable voters? So she is more likely to do local and non-traditional media rather than wasting time on the NYT which reaches essentially bugger all swing voters aged under 30 who live on a swing state - for example
As I said, I didn't know if it was true or not but I'd imagine Darroch would be aware of what's going on.
I get the feeling he is just watching CNN Like his idea that Clinton didn't campaign in the swing states - that is a historical shorthand but makes no actual sense. Why would veteran campaigners not campaign in the swing states? The problem was the HRC campaign did not realise those states were in play due to the huge polling miss. So they were spending huge resources in swing states like Florida where they didn't get close. Biden '20 focussed on those states, and they are one critical path for Harris so of course a high percentage of her resources are going there. The idea the mistakes of '16 are being repeated is just laughably dumb from Darroch. e.g the Dems have built vast infra and won numerous campaigns in WI, PA and MI since '16
Er... well... possible I suppose. I thought the polls weren't actually too far off in many of those states? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State..._the_2016_United_States_presidential_election Isn't it just as likely that Trump's anti-abortion lunacy had a significant impact on how well the GOP did in those, (and other), states? Also, I didn't take him to be saying that the mistakes of 2016 are 'being repeated' there. Not sure where you're getting that from, tbh. But, more importantly, if every time anyone says that Harris needs to consider this or that in an attempt to direct attention towards an aspect about which they have concerns, they're insulted and attacked, I don't think that is particularly healthy. More so in the case of Darroch who, (despite your description of him being 'laughably dumb),' probably might know a thing or two about US politics? As to his motives, don't forget this is the guy you're talking about... https://www.npr.org/2020/09/11/9120...-reflects-on-becoming-trump-persona-non-grata When the now former British Ambassador to the United States Kim Darroch described Donald Trump's White House as "inept" and "deeply dysfunctional" — and added that the president "radiated insecurity" — an international scandal ensued. That doesn't seem to be someone setting out to damage Harris... quite the opposite.
Is this person, one of “Extraordinary Genius” the Repugnants want as their President. He’ll be ruling his kingdom from a rubber room in Bedlam. Over two posts on his Truth Social platform, he wrote, "Up 6 points in the Rasmussen Poll. I WON THE DEBATE! A nice lead over the Marxist Candidate, Comrade Kamala Harris, who had a very hard time yesterday answering the simplest of questions in Pennsylvania, where she will end Fracking. It was A WORD SALAD, A REAL MESS!" Moments later he pressed his case further by writing, "ABC FAKE NEWS has been completely discredited, and is now under investigation. Did they give Comrade Kamala the questions? It was 3 on 1, but they were mentally challenged people, against one person of extraordinary genius. It wasn’t even close, as is now reflected in the polls. I WON THE DEBATE!" Along the way, he claimed that the two moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, along with Vice President Kamala Harris, are "mentally challenged people" while he is a "genius."
I've been watching this interview which seems relevant... As that guy says, it's incorrect to think that the more information we're flooded with, the more effective democracy we'll have.
