It didnt help that Ginsburg didnt have the humility to step down and allow Pres Obama to pick a successor.. Trumps presidency is horrible for many reasons.. the worst thing it did was giving the Supreme Court to the GOP along with all the other federal judges he appointed.. Judicial Branch is not its own separate entity as much as its now become an extension of one of the 2 major political parties.. may as well treat it as such.. the trust is beyond breached at this point Its part of the frustration with the Dems, so much of their misery is self inflicted.. The GOP can be called a “cult” all day but at least it has a unified vision.. the Dems are everyone thats left and all those various groups want their needs prioritized immediately.. not so much that Dems are “saints” mind you, theyre just the waaay lesser of 2 evils
In that the Dems aren't actually evil. They're not the ones actively and deliberately working to inflict pain and suffering on large amounts of people.
Why on earth would you think Obama would have been allowed to pick one at any point in his term? Do you think the Turtle would have had any trouble coming up with a bogus rationale for blocking one just because it was a different point on the calendar?
Ginsburg would've had to have retired in 2014 for Obama to be fairly confident in getting another nominee appointed.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy: Trump’s net worth has plunged $800 million since Harris entered the race for the White House So, $4 billion to $3.2 billion is still $3.2 billion. I wonder if there are any buyers for this stock, especially if he loses. Is any of this value real?
Did Garland get the memo? This is a riveting account of the $10M cash that Egypt's dictator, El-Sisi gave to Trump to help fund his 2016 election. The transaction was investigated by the DOJ, but Bill Barr dismissed it. WaPo now has the full story.#TrumpIsNotFitToBePresident #ProudBlue https://t.co/1Fehoybm4K— ElizabethC ⚖️🇺🇦🇮🇱💛💙🌻 (@econklin4) August 4, 2024
His predecessor looked into this and decided it was nothing, Second guessing a predecessor is just too damaging to DoJ.
I know it's sarcasm but I still can't believe Garland walked into the DoJ, knowing his predecessor was Jeff Sessions, Hottub guy and Barr and said, let's not bring too many of their decisions into question for the sake of the institutions and me looking bitter about the SCOTUS seat. My bro wanted Glen Kerschner, I wanted Yates or Jones. Garland may have been the worst decision of Biden's administration.
No doubt. And a garland type decision is exactly why I had reservations about Biden during the primaries. He never understood what he was up against.
I was for him in the primary because America needed its dad. @Kazuma and I agree, Biden was the dad you called after buying a Corvette for 1K on the internet and swearing it was ready to go and he told you, it's a deal too good to be true. Then the car brakes down and you have to call your dad to come and get you. Garland was really the appointment I came to disagree with. I was excited at first because I thought having seen ********ery first hand Garland would come in with more of an edge but nope, more bland chicken at white people backyard barbecue.
Jenna squeaks: BREAKING: Former president Donald Trump’s campaign attorney Jenna Ellis will cooperate with Arizona prosecutors in exchange for charges being dropped against her in a fake electors case. https://t.co/xDNQT9eJI2— The Associated Press (@AP) August 5, 2024 MAGA not happy: After Jenna Ellis’s cooperation agreement against her MAGA co-defendants was announced today, her right-wing fans have been giving her some feedback on social media, and it hasn’t been pretty. https://t.co/xsMyU7v9Pp— Ron Filipkowski (@RonFilipkowski) August 5, 2024
Certainly one of the worst decisions Biden made. I do wish I was still a bit more active in VA state & local Democratic politics, because I would love to be in position to put a bug in somebody's ear about how bad Biden's policy in the former Yugoslavia has been. It's not clear to me how much of that has been Blinken's doing, but we really need a hard reset in Bosnia, Serbia, and Kosovo.
The Biden administration has been far too timid about a lot of international affairs. Ukraine would be in a much better position right now if the Biden administration hadn't dragged its feet in giving them the military equipment they needed in a timely fashion and if they weren't tying their hands by preventing them from hitting targets inside of Russia.. The amount of supplies that Russia has chilling just on the other side of the border is crazy and if Ukraine were allowed to hit it with US supplied munitions, the war would be in a much different place than it is now.
It's like I said... they were treating it like it was a practice run in case they were up against a real fascist. That's why all the crap from the Biden crowd about 'reaching across the Aisle' was ridiculously naive and almost child-like, tbh. That's why I also think this crap about the supposedly 9-dimensional chess being practiced by the upper echelons of the DNC was fantasy land stuff. I wouldn't mind betting they'll feck it up even now.
Yeah, he is like your dad but unfortunately he's up against a hardened drug king-pin mafia boss who's threatening to kill you. Just asking the guy not to be mean probably won't cut it.
Not Trump, but related to the Trump crime family. The $DJT crypto token has just been rug-pulled (for people that don't follow crypto, that means the founders of the coin, who keep a substantial number of the tokens for themselves, dumped a whole lot of them at once at any price to cash out, rendering the token worthless). Martin Shkreli (yes, that Martin Shkreli), who was involved in creating the token, is accusing Barron Trump of doing the rug pulling.
Wow. Not sure if that dipshit Martin Shkreli is reliable in this case, but if true, I'm not sure whether to be mad that Barron Trump is following in his family's footsteps and taking advantage of people for his own financial gain, or happy that the people Barron Trump is taking advantage of are dickhead crypto people.
Of course--and in absolute terms, his foot-dragging in Ukraine has had worse consequences and is more immediately concerning. It's just that the administration's unexplained pivot to being less supportive of Bosnian & Kosovar sovereignty and implicitly more deferential to Serbian nationalism just came out of nowhere, and was an absolute unforced error. As well as being a break with Biden's own stances in the past as Senator.
In that case, just type out: por_que_no_los_dos.jpg It gets the message across while looking cynically urbane.
