The Revolution are in the playoffs more often then not in the scenarios that happen next week: #2 Seed: If Columbus losses to the Fire on Saturday in Chicago then the revolution would clinch a #2 Seed with a win over the metroslobs. If this happens they would face either Kansas City or Columbus depending upon if KC wins their game and who owns the tie breaker in that series. #6 Seed: If Columbus wins or ties the Chicago Fire next weekend. The Revolution must win and have Kansas City Tie or lose their game in Colorado. #7 Seed: If The Revolution win their match vs. the Metrostars and the KC wizards lose or tie their match with Colorado the Revolution would be the #7 seed and face off against the Columbus Crew as long as Columbus wins their match or ties their match with Chicago. They also could be the number seven seed if the lose to the Metrostars, KC loses to the Rapids, and DC wins their match against Dallas. The revolution would win the three way matchup on goal differential and also would knock KC out of the playoffs as DC would be the 8 seed if chicago ties their match with columbus causing a log jam of 4 teams with 35 points... More confusion that is gonna take more tie breakers to decide then the MLS has tie break rules. #8 Seed: If the revolution tie their match with the Metrostars Scenario one: KC loses their match and chicago wins their match. Scenario two: KC wins their match and Chicago loses theirs. Scenario 3 KC ties their match and chicago loses their match. If the Revolution Lose their match v. NY and DC wins their match along with a KC lose. The Revolution would be the 8th seed. If the revolution lose their match and Chicago ties Columbus and DC beats Dallas and KC beats Colorado or ties them. The revolution would win the goal differential vs. the Chicago Fire and DC United. #9 Seed: If the revolution lose to New York and both Chicago and KC win or tie their matches the Revolution would be in 8th place. The way I look at it is that its very hard for the revolution to miss out on the playoffs alot of things have to happen for them to miss out on the postseason. The only thing that scares me is that alot of things has happened to get us in the spot right now... It also looks like a win... and we are in as the number 2 or 7 seed. With both Howard and Mathis out on Saturday its a tall task to miss out on a win for this game. As a number two or seven seed we are forced to play columbus in the first round of the playoffs. Sounds enticing if you ask me. We can inact a bit of revenge on the crew for the 3rd OT game loss earlier this season at home. A win in that series would put us up against either 3 seed of LA or San jose. or the sixth seed of Chicago, Which we would host since they would have to beat Columbus next weekend and our win would put us as the eastern champs. Could also be KC if they win their game vs. colorado. I may be wrong in all of this so see what others think.
Unfortunately I think the match is on Sunday, so we'll have to wait an extra day to see how things shake out. Does anyone know the playoff schedule, ie will it be all weekend games, Sat-Wed-Sat, or what? I wouldn't at all mind getting the #7 seed and playing the crew...
How great would it be to finish no. 2! I cant take the agony of the wait anymore, i think I'll sleep through classes this week to pass the time. Lufty, after doing all this work, I hope you enjoy the metros game as much as we all will. Thanks for bringing us the facts the last couple of games.
There's no way the Revs can beat the Wizards if the Revs lose, right? KC won both games with NE, so the Wiz would win that first tiebreaker. So if the Revs lose, don't they need Chicago to lose, or else they're out?
