He wasn't remotely fit in the CL final. Was coming off a 2 week injury and almost was scrapped in the Pregame warmup. He's still fantastic when available - Just look at our season last year and also the last 15 games of the hellish 2020-2021 season.
A player of Thiago's quality is one of those special cases where it's worth taking the risk re his injuries because the guy is so effing good. When he was bought I think we were just coming off winning the league and we had a very solid squad but adding him was like that cherry on top who would take us to an even higher level. Then covid hit and some horrible injuries blighted our season which pretty wasted the benefits of a Thiago close to his prime. I don't regret signing him and if we had to do the deal all over again I'd still take him for 20-25 m.
in a heartbeat. the issue is that we needed to add a dynamic midfield in the next 2 windows and we didnt. Tchouameni might have been the one this summer but he wanted Real.
bad hamstring - 2 months or more. I expect him to play almost no minutes this season as he will need to get fitness and then not get injured .... again.
Ox was so good when he first came to Liverpool. Injuries absolutely devastated and derailed his career.
currently unavailable (assuming Keita is OK) .... Kelleher Tsimikas Konate Ramsey Thiago Jones Ox Jota plus maybe Matip ?
With so many out injured so early into the season is this just bad luck or is something wrong with our preseason training regime?
and looks like we can add Bobby - maybe? - to that list. and now Nunez suspended for 3 games as well (MU, Bournemouth, Newcy). one school of thought is our players as a group were run into the ground over last season's marathon 63 (?) games and needed longer than usual to recover ... not less time which is what they got. jesus a couple of weeks ago we were all aglow at how strong our squad is. now it feels like we don't have enough players at all.
Hmm … is Klopp a hoarder? We have far too many players in that midfield on whom we can’t rely but seemingly unable or unwilling to release.
Klopp's a great player manager, and a very emotional guy, he gets a lot out of his players. If he has a real flaw it seems to be excessive loyalty to "his boys".
I have to agree. I think, having been a low league player himself, he also knows the psychological impact of being shoved out of the door.
Bloody hell-- it does look as if we were in a perfect storm (or is that sh!t storm?) last week leading upon to match day 2 on Monday with players dropping like flies. It's a pure wonder that we managed to patch up a team together.
Best I can tell (hard to keep track) this is the fitness / availability status of the first team: Alison - just back from injury Keleher - injured Adrian Gomez - carrying a problem VvD Konate - injured TAA Matip - injured Ramsay - injured Robbo Tsimi - just back from injury Nat Sepp Hendo - carrying a problem Fab Thiago - injured Millie Ox - injured Keita - just back from illness Curtis - injured Harvey Bobby - carrying a problem Mo Nunez - banned 3 games Jota - injured Diaz Carvalho Total 27 players, of whom just about 50% (14? 13?) are out for sure or are less than 100% fit.
It's a dreadful start to the season. MOAN-- I still think we should have beaten Crystal Palace has we scored in that opening spell when we were flying.END OF MOAN
You can add Kaide Gordon to the injury list . If he was fit I'm certain he'd be in consideration given the # of injuries right now.
Matip’s injury is looking more complex than originally thought. Keita is injured again but I’m getting the view that Klopp is at the end of his tether with him.
We know what we've got with Keita, talented player but highly part time. Can't afford part timers with our ambitions.
I have to seriously question Klopp's regimen this summer. The maximum # of games last season. Lots of players getting stuck in those three int'l matches at the end of the season. A short break. Then a return to his desired pre-season with lots of travel and double and triple sessions - including before friendlies in horrendous weather. Is it any wonder we have so many broken bodies? Thank god so few of our players will be at the WC.
