Thiago's out for at least the next couple games with a calf injury sustained v Palace.Waiting for scan results and a proper diagnosis. Trent and Neco still out and Bobby resumes training this week.

Trent wasn't going to play this anyway. Hopefully he's back for the weekend.

I wonder if those "2 games" for Thiago = tomorrow + Brentford?

I hope he's available for the Porto game.

edit: official site Thiago Alcantara will be sidelined for both of Liverpool's matches this week

Re Thiago , Sam I think they won't know for sure until they get the scan results. Hopefully not a muscle tear.

Trent should be fine by this weekend. he just had some kind of bug...
Naby or Curtis can fill in for Thiago this weekend at least.

Jürgen Klopp has provided fitness updates on six Liverpool players ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is available again having missed last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace due to illness, while Roberto Firmino is ‘in contention’ following a hamstring injury.

James Milner and Neco Williams are also back in training as the Reds prepare for the trip to Brentford Community Stadium.

Naby Keita is unlikely to feature against the Bees, however, due to the issue he sustained at Norwich City in midweek, and Thiago Alcantara is sidelined.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Training Centre on Thursday afternoon, Klopp said: “Trent was not injured, Trent was a little bit ill. He’s back in training, trained yesterday and will be fine.

“Neco made [his] first steps the day before yesterday; yesterday a [recovery] day; will be in training today, if it’s 100 per cent, we will see how he can cope with it.

“James was a similar thing to Trent, so he should be recovered. I saw him running around here, nobody told me differently – I assume he will be in training today.

“Naby probably not. It’s not a serious thing but we have to wait until the pain settles, pretty much. We will see about that. Thiago, no chance.

“Bobby trained already for two or three days, so he is back in contention, let me say it like this. We used him a little bit as a ‘joker’ [in training].

“But he will be in the normal training and then we have to make a decision if we take him with us or not. Porto, 100 per cent. Brentford, we have to see.”

odd at the press conference yesterday he said he would be reevaluated for Porto.

that said - having just enjoyed a calf injury this summer - it took me 4 weeks to recover - so that would make sense.

Ahh ok - so then the quotes that filtered out yesterday were not correct. Or maybe that was just to regular journalists - not in the conference.

I've been watchin football all my life and I'm pretty close to 100% certain that I've never heard of a player getting injured by kicking the ground.

bet it happens all the time...but I think maybe, just maybe, some of Klopp's frustration leaked out by him actually mentioning it.

years ago maybe ... but these days? Prem pitches are like billiard tables.

could well be. Keita may have the world's lowest pain threshold.

It's great to have a player that has three average games and an amazing one then is injured for the next four, isn't it?

I tore mine and took six weeks off running and re-injured it on the third run back. took another 9 weeks off after the re-injury and have been baby-ing it for five weeks now. It's no joke.

Yeah like a fool I tried to play the week after - and boom - within the first or second sprint I collapsed.

Knock on wood - it's held up the last month.

Get to a PT. I tweaked my calf in June and my PT did a bunch of fascia work (massage, dry needling, cupping etc) for a month and it's been great since.
I've run 3 ultras in the last 5 weeks.

PT has been all over it. Was a pretty bad tear, so just taking my time.
Raced a half ironman today (was in 2nd place and making up ground with about 8 miles left in the bike and crashed, I got right up and was ready to continue but bike was inoperable) and have another next weekend. Then I've got 6 weeks of offseason rest to get it right for what is shaping up to be an extremely difficult 2022.
