Liverpool should be boosted by the return of Fabinho, James Milner and Diogo Jota from injury this week, ahead of Sunday’s trip to Sheffield United.
That is good news. I am hoping par of the change we'll make will be to play Fabinho in midfield rather than in defence.
most reports saying he's done for the season (athletic has an article). It's all speculation of course - but not one person - including Klopp - has seemed optimisitc.
will Virgil be the same player when he gets back to fitness? or will he lose so much that his career will just slide? looking at how other high-profile players who got the same injury, the answer is a definite "who TF knows?" https://www.90min.com/posts/players-who-suffered-acl-injury-virgil-van-dijk
yeah I know all the speculation is bad, but the club hasn't made any announcement yet. media saying they issued the positive Jota update to balance the upcoming bad Hendo news .....
Virgil van Dijk finally returns to training Liverpool talisman Virgil van Dijk finally returns to training after his horror knee injury | Daily Mail Online
I can only fervently hope they don't rush his return. even if he's available for, say, the last 3-4 games - forget about it.
as we all feared and expected, Hendo is out for 10 weeks. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56155121
yeah some reports say 6 weeks, some 8, some 10. doesn't really matter does it, at this point? maybe he'll be in the bench for the CL final and will get to play 30 seconds at the end before lifting the trophy.
Henderson would be available for the final five or six matches of the Premier League season even with an eight week lay-off.
A very rough metric but still interesting ............ Which EPL club have REALLY had the worst luck with injuries this season Revealed! Which EPL club have REALLY had the worst luck with injuries this season - and how Leeds, Liverpool, and Man United compare | Yorkshire Evening Post
CP worse off than us? I find that very hard to believe. agree re the metric - games missed doesn't recognize the effect of losing a player during a match eg Hendo and Fab, repeatedly (unless they count that as a game missed?)
Also doesn't reflect the importance of the player. eg Missing 3 key players for the entire season would have more impact than missing 6 fringe players for half a season each?
Compensation ........... THE DEAL BETWEEN FIFA AND THE CLUB OVER JOE GOMEZ Liverpool: Claim on FIFA and Joe Gomez emerges | thisisfutbol.com
Dunno if this is true ... can't find a site to confirm it ... but it certainly feels accurate. LFC have lost over 400 more man days from injury than the next nearest club.
A report by the Irish Independent has claimed that Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will return to training again shortly. Kelleher picked up a stomach injury in February and has not been involved since then. But he is apparently set to return to training either this weekend or next week.
