These are both issues. FC Dallas is struggling to produce long term pros. They definitely have room for legit pro prospects to get a spot within the academy, especially a local who costs like a fraction of a player who is recruited from outside the territory.
Watched a bit of the Snow Bowl - Union u15 v Man Utd game, game ended 0-0. I don't know many of these players but Jude Larbi stuck out to me. Certainly caused some problems for the defense. In an earlier game, Chicago u16 had 3 players sent off against Lyngby. All matches can we watched here: https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/academy/snowbowl/watch
First half (30 mins) of the u16 v Benfica match has probably been the most entertaining football I've seen this year- give it a watch. There were probably 60 mascots- three for each player, which was pure comedy. Even funnier when they run on the field to celebrate the goals- every time. Union pressed hard, forced turnovers and scored twice. Benfica responded well with one of the best individual goals you'll see. Then Union go up 3-1 from a set piece scrum. Sam Gallego looking very good on the ball so far.
Ref earned his money in this game. Ended 3-3 with neither side happy and more yellows than I can count. If Logan Huffman doesn't make it as the Union's next LB, he'll have a future as a WWE heel. I really like his game but love his shithousery. Diop was quiet, it's a tough gig playing DM for the Union.
A very Philadelphia Union signing. Looking for a relatively cheap diamond in the rough. Low risk, potential reward. They've signed former US U23 Agustin Anello, who has predominantly played LW (although can also play RW and CF). Maybe there are a couple of homegrowns that they still think aren't ready for prime time with them. CJ Olney? Isn't he a left sided midfielder/winger? Philadelphia Union acquire forward Agustín Anello | MLSSoccer.com Philadelphia Union announced today that they have acquired forward Agustín Anello on a permanent transfer from Boston River. His contract is guaranteed through the 2028-2029 season, with an option through the 2029-2030 season. Anello will be added to the Union’s active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

I thought "well that doesn't make any sense"..............until the end of the tweet. Brooklyn is coached by Marlon LeBlanc! It seems to me that Olney doesn't have a path with Philly. Hopefully he kicks butt at Brooklyn and parlays that into another opportunity.
GOLAZO by Jakupovic. I said it to @mbarrera1323, I truly believe that Malik is the biggest prospect for the Union right now. Natural scorer, creating his own goal from nothing. #doop #MLSNEXTPRO #usymnt #USMNT 📹: MLSNEXTPRO pic.twitter.com/l8fKuV8BES— José Roberto Nuñez (@JoserNunez91) February 28, 2026
Neil Pierre on scoring his first pair of goals for Lyngby while on loan from Philadelphia:"It's a dream to be honest... I still don't know if this is real or not. I did not expect to come into this game and score a brace."#doop #lyngby #usymnt #usmnt 📷: Lyngby Instagram pic.twitter.com/dA3IY1MRUP— José Roberto Nuñez (@JoserNunez91) March 9, 2026

Panicky first half for the Union with a very young team, down 1-0 against América. Could be worse, but could also be better. Don't think anyone was exempt from rushing and being over aggressive except maybe Rick. Cavan has largely been off target, but he has been aggressive and pushing the game. Almost had a brilliant one on one play but lost the ball momentarily and that was enough. I do think the ref is letting América get away with a LOT of fouls. Seen the ref just stare at dudes getting basically NFL tackled and nothing. It looks like a LigaMX match, where América tends to get that constant benefit of the doubt as well. The difference in the game, as it usually is with América, is finishing. If Philly still had Baribo, they would have scored by now. Alladoh looks like he's never played soccer before. A lot of staring at his feet as he tries to make contact with the ball.
LOL. Yes, it was, because he took forever. Also missed making contact on a gorgeous free kick from Iloski. I'm sure he was great, which is why Carnell pulled him at half time.
Waiting for the explanation of Damiani and Vassilev's excellent second half finishing. No way Tai Baribo would help here. Philly's played a lot better in the second half but they need someone to finish something.
Alladoh has good hold up play, but is on his heels- slow to react and gets beat to the ball too often. Anello has a little something on the ball but usually ends up passing to the other team. Martinez could be the worst player I've seen play for the Union. His 10 yard passes look awkward and he's constantly putting himself in bad positions. Ndinga looks like a good find.
Terrible loss to Atlanta today. Westfield got the start, but not much to comment on with regards to thread eligible players. It'll be fascinating to see how much leash Carnell has after winning the Supporter's Shield. Oscar Pareja is available.............................
Great work must be getting done by the Philadelphia goalkeeping coaches! Jamie Cleland? In the March window.......... Matt Freese: Academy graduate now with NYCFC U20s: Andrew Rick U17s: Matthew White U16s Abram Judy U15s: Thomas White Andre Blake is apparently under contract thru 2026 with an option for 2027. They're the kind of club that just might pass the baton to Rick after this season, and keep the assembly line moving.
Gonna agree to disagree. I actually think goalkeeper is like the weakest position in the academy. I don’t think there’s anyone there even close to Rick’s level in the academy.
Would it be too much to ask the Mr and Mrs Sullivan for one more son? Ronan is playing with the Bangladesh u20s at the SAFF championship. Scored a brace in the first game. The first was this absolute banger.. That kid only scores bangers.. From this angle, it is an even better take. 100 percent a banger. #doop #usmnt #usymnt https://t.co/XwwoMB9BmV pic.twitter.com/lJcg77D1J3— José Roberto Nuñez (@JoserNunez91) March 24, 2026
Yesterday, the U-20 U.S. squad beat Argentina’s U-20s by a score of 3–0, with a slew of Union involvement throughout the match.- Sal Olivas scored the opener, assisted by Philadelphia Union Homegrown and current San Diego FC midfielder David Vazquez.- For the second, YSC… pic.twitter.com/z9twxU2fEY— José Roberto Nuñez (@JoserNunez91) March 28, 2026
Philadelphia Union’s U-18s opened up group play at the Dallas Cup today with a 1-0 win over Toluca. In the first half, Alex Smith made a fantastic save on a PK, and not long after, Lennon Harrington converted on a PK to give the Union the 1-0 lead, which would hold.
