I have the A7iii and after seeing those pictures, realize I seriously need a zoom lens. 3.5 lbs though...you are using a tripod?
Like I said, those pictures were from her old camera, a Canon I believe. She got the Sony recently and is still getting it figured out. She says it will give her much better resolution than the old camera and should track better. She was debating getting a camera that would take better pictures of a bird in flight/tracks better, but, chose the higher resolution one. I am not a camera person, so, I am just relating what she has told me is conversations. I try not to ask too many questions because I don't really want to know what she spends on this stuff. She mostly shoots without a tripod.
Oh, what I meant is whether or not you are a big-time birder enthusiast. I have a friend who, after she stopped being highly involved in soccer, became a birder and takes fantastic bird photos. She is trying to take photos of as many different birds as she can; I think the goal is something like 1,000 North American species. She’s very active in the birding community and helps count bird populations and migrations. Are you and your wife at that level, or you just take photos locally?
We just take careful observation of what comes on to our property since it is just interesting to see and know the wide variety of birds that show up here. My wife has literally thousands of photos and I am trying to get her to make an album of all the birds that we have seen here. The funny thing is that she initially got into the photography because she wanted to take pictures of our dogs. Now it's just as much about the birds. Don't ask me how much bird seed we go through every month!
Sorry to interrupt the bird talk, but I needed to post a cat video. It's even soccer-related. It's inside this tweet, so apologies if you can't see it for some reason. Brilliant cat goalkeeping in Italy. pic.twitter.com/nSg0nAtNi1— Christian Machowski (@CM_MalagaFoto) April 3, 2020
I enjoy those as well, life was simpler then, more straightforward. The Blackhats were bad, the whitehats were good.
I'm watching our Quakes play the filth from 2001 right now on ESPN2, that brings me joy, or at least less trepidation.
Actually, I don't know who Barb is, but I was referring to Caroline L who used to be in Palo Alto AYSO but now lives in Canada
This is an article about a young Timbers fan. Last year I started listening to the Soccer Touchdown podcast, which is kind of kooky, and this kid GOJ is part of the their pod. I didn't know about his patch-making activities though, and this story touched my heart. Hope it does for you as well (if you take out the Timbers part). https://rosecity.review/just-a-kid-named-goj/
Last time Portland was in town Don G. and I were drinking with some Timber supporters at the LOBINA and I remember one of them showing me an "away" game patch on his Timber Army vest. Also, from the article: " Even when there are no patches to deliver, he tries to carve out time to interact with visiting supporters before each home game. Well, most visiting supporters; there are some caveats. “Here’s where I lay down the line,” Mathews started. “Seattle, I only go over to take pictures. Sometimes [I also don’t interact with] San Jose fans because they get a little too riled up.”
A friend just dropped off some homemade masks for my wife and I..........I think I will let them sit out in the sun for awhile..
That's a good idea, where sun is available! We actually have some right now, bit of a shock, but nice weather here right now. It's a blamy 57 F right now. Not on speaking terms with "room temperature," but in the direct sun, probably close enough. Good luck to you and yours. - Mark
That is too funny! Barb is Canadian and was super involved in our AYSO until a couple of years ago. Now she's a fanatic bird photographer and educator -- she had a show of her photographs at Cafe Zoe in February. I wonder if they know each other?
Note that tonight is a super moon, called the pink moon in April (though it's not pink). An excuse to step outdoors, whether or not you're a photographer. https://www.photopills.com/articles/7-tips-make-next-supermoon-shine-your-photos
Probably! The birder group is pretty tight. If you want me to ask my friend, send me an email with Barb’s last name...
You realize, that means we have a good chance of having an earthquake to go along with our pandemic pile on?
