Certainly this season and I suspect it is for a number of years to be honest however I don’t have any weekly matchday records to confirm but last season we had a low of 53/220 (24%)English qualified players and the season before averaged 33% so based on that, I’m pretty confident it’s a record over the last two seasons at least.

Our CEO, Mark Bullingham, has issued an update on how The FA has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic:— England Football (@EnglandFootball) June 29, 2020
https://www.skysports.com/amp/footb...es-set-to-leave-man-utd-when-contract-expires Hope him and O’Riley go abroad. Gomes and Garner have been underused by Solskjser this season and O’Riley has made even less appearances.
Looks as though Covid has been good for English players getting opportunities - about another 10 per matchday starting.
Yeah that was pretty impressive but I think there will be a bit of a drop off for this current game week but will see tonight.
Think it will increase after this week again. Jones, Elliott, THB, Doyle and Palmer are all in line for minutes.
Just looking ahead to next season and looking at the teams in the Championship that might help with the home grown numbers increase, Leeds could be a decent addition with a average of around 5 out of 11 players English qualified per game, WBA could also be a welcome addition with usually around 5 or 6 out of 11. Then out of the play off hopefuls, I think any will be a welcome addition bar Fulham who usually don’t play many English qualified players. Obviously this could all change during the transfer window but I think it will be relatively quiet due to the coronavirus crisis so would be surprised if there is major overhauls with these squads. Personally think Forest, Derby or Cardiff could have the biggest contributions fwiw from the other hopefuls to get promoted Teams going down, Norwich look certain and won’t really be missed in regard to their contribution towards the percentage however they have given opportunities to three promising kids in Cantwell, Aaron’s and Godfrey so shouldn’t be overlooked. Out of the others who could go down, Bournemouth and Villa usually average about 5, Watford around 4, Brighton around 4 also and West Ham 5. So all in all with the teams coming up everything should probably even itself out except for Fulham who could send the percentage negative.
Iling didn't sign and, while I've seen Villa's boys signed today, Chukmuemeka is conspicuous in his absence from sharing a photo too.

Villa announced seven scholars and he wasn't one of them. They said they hope to be able to announce others soon, but I think that's a Polish goalkeeper awaiting clearance, so it looks like he's off somewhere.
Just thought I’d share this as it made me smile and kind of sums up how tight I get the feeling the 2000 age group is. I still run the same 😂 Back in the day with @agomes_47 !! Good luck with the next chapter in your career bro pic.twitter.com/VvZUu13iSA— Phil Foden (@PhilFoden) July 4, 2020

The only thing at stake for Liverpool was Klopp’s ego but he still didn’t give 30 minutes to Jones or Elliott. Poor
Yeah when Henderson hobbled off and they had Fabinho on, I thought why not throw Jones on but no, it was Milner. Obviously going for the points record which I’m not a big fan of if I’m honest and for the record I said the same when City went for it. I guess I just don’t care about that sort of thing as once you have won the league that’s what counts for me, not record points and it’s just a wasted opportunity to blood in some kids and get them the experience which will help their development. Shame in a way but I’m sure there’s plenty of fans that would rather go for the points record than player development.
And you just know that any injuries would be blamed on too many fixtures. I was naive enough to think that Jones and Elliott would get meaningful minutes once the title was secure.
He may be Welsh but Klopp did give a full debut to a academy graduate today in Neco Williams. He was quoted recently saying Liverpool won't be gifting appearences to young players so I guess it's up to Jones and Elliot to earn to same opportunity. Jones had a good cameo on the weekend so it's a shame he didn't get to build on it today. I'm still expecting a start before the end of the season.
https://www.whufc.com/news/articles...ght-academy-youngsters-sign-scholarship-deals No Baker-Boaitey as he continues to be linked away.
Tommy Doyle got the last 20 minutes yesterday. From what I’ve seen he could be the next one after foden who gets into the first team/ squad very exciting for city fans, especially as he has such a strong link with the club with his grandfathers playing for us
Maybe I just have English tinted glasses on, but Jones and Williams have looked more impressive for the first team in their appearances from whenever I've seen them. I didn't think Williams looked that impressive last night if I'm honest. He was caught out a lot down that left hand side and didn't seem to contribute that much going forward or in possession either. I will concede however that we need a bigger sample size before making conclusions.
Also, even though it doesn't suit us, I don't blame Liverpool or Klopp for keeping their foot on the pedal and playing their first team for the rest of the season. They have had a magnificent season and will understandably want to break records for their legacy, especially with them being out of all other competitions. There is a lot of talk about how Liverpool won't be spending much in the summer so I'd imagine their youngsters will get more opportunities next season, in the case of Elliott especially, he is still really young so there is plenty of time.
