What does this even mean though? That they will get some token sub appearances this season and then go back to playing in the Championship aged 21 like Poveda-Carlo and like Gelhardt was doing 2 years ago?
I'm not entirely sure to be honest, that is just what has been stated to the fans. It was said that Drameh was bought to eventually replace Ayling, and I'd expect him to start making appearances before the end of the season. However Bielsa seems to have reduced the amount of trust in youth players and would rather play older players out of position instead. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gelhardt and Greenwood go at the end of the season as there seems to be little pathway under Bielsa in those positions currently.
Not one English qualified player starting for Watford today however five are starting for Spurs. I can kind of get it when the better teams don’t have that many English qualified starters as they are littered with quality players but find it hard to justify a team like Watford.

Sancho is miles off the pace. Kind of hard to see how a player like him will thrive in this sort of team moving forward. None of the play is going through him.
Yeah, I have often thought this move was a mistake and he should have stayed at Dortmund for another season or two or moved to another Continental team where his style is more suited. This will probably come back to haunt me but I don’t think he will be a big success there.

Spurs starting 6 English eligible players is a pleasant surprise compared to previous seasons and will somewhat make up for the poor return of the newly promoted teams with their lacklustre contribution so far.
Sancho and Greenwood both starting alongside Ronaldo. I hope Sancho has a good game. He hasn't really found his place yet with all of the play going through Fernandes.

He's so good. I struggle to believe that he's left out of recent squads because our coaches think we have better.
People read too much into single squad selections. Not aimed at you specifically Chris, but a number of posts i've seen on the forum in recent weeks. Angel Gomes hadn't started a game for Lille yet when the U21 squad was announced. Phrasing it as 'U21s ignoring CL starters' is just disingenuous. His performances have also been mixed, even though i'd like to see him in there. Patino had a game for Arsenal's U21s in the International Break, he's also been a regular when available with England throughout the age groups. He's just had less gametime because all of the 03s bar Bellingham, are short on caps due to game cancellations and COVID.
Yeah, that's kind of what I'm responding to indirectly. Seen a few comments about Patino being left out recently - whatever the explanation is, I sincerely doubt that our coaches can't see how well he's doing.
