Is it a default setting for OGS to just hook off Greenwood at some point during every game? He just seems to do it regardless even if he’s actually one of Utds better forwards. Poor kid looks dejected everytime he comes off, can’t be doing good things for his confidence.
Is there any way we could have a weekly update on the percentage of English players playing within the top 5 leagues? Abit like how we do with the Premier league. I know it's a huge ask but I would be very interested to see who is getting valuable minutes in a big league.
To be fair, didn’t see the whole game so you could be right but from what I did see, didn’t think there was much between them but you always know Greenwood will get hooked. Utd fans didn’t seem very happy with the decision on social media but it’s not just this game I’m referring to as in previous games, he seems to always be the one to be sacrificed when he’s not necessarily the worst of the three forwards.
Greenwood’s all round game has improved this season but he’s just not scoring. James had a good game and Rashford can come up with something even when he’s playing really badly.

Coady the first Englishman to score a league goal for Wolves in 97 games— Jim Proudfoot (@JimProudfoot) March 2, 2021
Well the FA and the government had the means to introduce quotas but in the end the state is built in service to capital, so they were always going to go the way that made the most money.
Just looking through the line ups for these U18’s games today and just noticed that most teams have a lot of English representation except for Utd who have just 3 players that qualify for England who are starting and to be honest that’s pitiful for this level.
Would quotas help the national team? Marcotti doesn't think so. Thanks, enjoyed that. Devine & Scarlett looked too good for this level.
Marcotti is someone who has said in the past that player development is a fluke because academies across Europe all do the same things. He might be right in this case, but he's no authority on the topic. It's a bit of a blind spot for him if anything.
United went on a massive foreign recruitment drive at youth level before Brexit. The word coming out of the club is that they think the academy has more talent in it now than at anytime in history. There are a number of really highly rated English players. United have just signed Malachi Sharpe from Derby who is supposed to be exceptional. The whispers about Kai Rooney is that he’s a chip off the old block as well.
Well, that’s good to hear that they have some good English prospects coming through as you always hear the narrative that we have loads of talent coming through so when I saw Utd U18’s only starting three English kids, I started to wonder if there’s an issue with the development in the younger age groups, hence the need to sign so many foreign recruits. I know they had to take the chance to sign many due to Brexit restrictions enforced now but still. Yeah Malchai Sharpe looks a good prospect though, will have to keep an eye on him and young Rooney
Yeah, I don’t get to see that many games these days at this level and just stumbled across it on Twitter as someone said it’s on YouTube. Would be great if everyone can post links on here if they hear of any games that are on easy accessible platforms in the future.

Poor week this week which I think you can put mainly down to injuries. For example Leicester started just one Englishman when usually at least four would start but they take a hit due to Justin, Maddison and Barnes all being out leaving just Vardy as the only English starter. Villa normally have seven starters but just down to four, plus a few other teams are down a few hence the decline this week.

Dean Ashton wasn’t impressed with Greenwood’s performance the other night or his form generally this season! Think he’s a little bit harsh to be honest, don’t think he’s had the best of times with his personal life which can effect your performances. “I have to say, Manchester United look so average." #MUFC https://t.co/jmFOqLTuam— talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) March 13, 2021
It's hard not to be disappointed with Greenwood's performance this season, especially after the promise he showed last season. I don't think there's call to panic at this point.
Seems to have been ever since the Iceland trip and I wonder if all the negative press has had a big hit on his confidence or it could just be second season syndrome. Something just doesn’t seem quite right with him though at the moment.
