Hi, I have a trivia question that I would like answered, if someone can do it. Here goes:

In the Inaugural game for the Columbus Crew back in 1996, which I think was a home game against DC United. Who were the starting 11 for that game and who subbed in for the Crew? I am looking for the very first game, not necessarily the first home game.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Oshoniyi, Clark, Watson, Michalik, Thompson, Khumalo, Battelle, Bliss, Marino, McBride, Paz.

Yeagley, Maissoneuve, and Cozier came on as subs.

We beat DC United 4-0 at home, April 13, 1996. Buns had two, Marino had one, and DC had an own goal.

The own goal was courtesy of Crew Legend Nominee Thor Lee, in his first of only two games for United. Sources say Thor now sells real esate in California, which makes him more successful than most 1996 MLS players.

Thanks for the information. I was at that game and I remember feeling bad for DC for getting beat so bad. I guess they got their revenge and then some over the next few seasons.

    I assume buns was McBride.

I really liked Billy T. I remember a game where a fan was complaining about him and wanted him subbed out. He turned around and burned a defender around the endline and either scored or assisted. I always root for the short dudes since I am one of them!

    Go Crew!

What was Watson's first name? Also, how do you spell Michalik's first name? Also, is the Doctor still alive? I thought that he or a relative had been killed years ago. I am hoping to track all these guys down for autographs.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks for the links Fid, but why the extra comments? I thought this was a forum for the Crew and we could talk about the Crew so why the passive aggressiveness towards my questions. You are a moderator, yes? It seems like far too many people on here want to be funny and smart and that is ok, but not at the expense of others.

The Crew forum is all of those things and more. Certainly not for the thin-skinned and when you ask questions that are readily available on the Internet you are just welcoming smart ass comments. In the time it took you to ask multiple questions you probably could have found the answers via Google a couple times over. Thicken up your skin a bit, having fun at the expense of others is the cornerstone of most message boards! Enjoy.

Isn't it all readily available on the internet? The cornerstone of message boards is having fun at the expense of others or just a free chance to act like a jerk and not be held accountable for it? The message boards are what we make of them.

Bazinga, that would be the question that has been being asked since the first computer geek was hatched. But yeah, you probably do want to toughen your skin up a bit if you want to play here it can get rough sometimes.
