Badenoch wins the Tory leadership election.
She has multiple accusations of bullying against her, has had to correct Hansard 8 times in just 7 years as an MP, has been called out for misuse of statistics 7 times by the ONS, and admitted to illegally accessing Harriet Harmon's website.
Why do I get the feeling this is going to be IDS all over again?

    Ridiculous comparison.

    IDS isn't a conflict-addicted social media whore. . .

He has self-control but he couldn't control the MPs. She has none, so she'll never control them either

Get some popcorn because it'll be a wilder ride than his: shorter, but much, much wilder.:cool:

What was it someone said about if John McCain had died just after becoming president and Sarah Palin had taken over? It would be like a 4 years white water rafting holiday... you probably wouldn't survive but if you did, you'd have a lot of crazy-arse pictures :D

Watching Liz Truss' rise to a ministry, then to No. 10, my immediate and unchanging reaction was "if she had any brains, she'd be dangerous".

Badenoch (Msc. Eng.) is Truss (CIMA) with brains.

Thank fcuk she's not moving into Downing St.

She's academically smart, of that there's little doubt. Her political smarts are something that has yet to be seen.

Imagine getting rightly called out by Nadine Dorries on a bill to prevent revenge porn.

For sure, and the fact of the matter is Truss' CIMA (Chartered Inst. of Management Accounting) is quite challenging intellectually.

It's just that political smarts start with character and a big mouth coupled with dogmatic certainty, a roast comic's sensibility and a wokester-like thin skin is the wrong kind of character for electoral or governing success.

Badenoch's intellect is higher than Truss' so, with the Tories in opposition rather than in govt., her only political outlet will be the party and she'll cause even more damage to it than the lettuce did.

The country will be safe, though, for the simple reason that she won't lead the Tories into the next election and I'm not entirely sure about the 2026 local elections either.

Farage, who complained about Labour staffers going to campaign for Harris in their own time, is now in the US while parliament is sitting.
Now would be a fine time for Labour to bring in some parliamentary rules about having to attend/vote/hold surgeries in order to receive a salary and expenses.

I agree with that last bit but, let's be honest... he can earn more making pro-Trump speeches in the states than he would get in an MP's salary and expenses.

I think they need to tighten up the rules but also make it easier for voters to recall an MP for not doing his job.

I actually don't think it's that much to do with intellect per se

Truss is crackers, and that was wildly reported before she became PM. She crashed because she was an insane ideologue.

Badenoch is more your classic chancer with no morals - typical of a party that has no talent and has resorted to overpromoting whomever survived the purges of the brexit era

To be honest, I think that describes Jenrick more given how much he pivoted once he started to campaign. I think Badenoch has a fairly consistent history of repugnant views, whereas Jenrick has at different points tried to appeal to all aspects of the party.

I think there is no real difference between them. Badenoch would have been a one nation tory if that had been the centre of the party, but now they have sunk in to insanity, she has gone pseudo-fash.

Of course she should try to tack back to the centre now she won but she probably won't because they are all insane

IMO that is why she comes over as a phoney. She has no real views on anything.

The Shadow Foreign Secretary once had to resign for holding off the record meetings with a foreign power, the Shadow Environment Secretary is a climate change denier, and the Shadow Education Secretary is a bona fide idiot.
