Here's the concept. You post a picture from any Crew game you've ever been to. Tell when it happened, where it was, and why you enjoyed that day. There's no better way to forget about the future than to reminisce in the past. August 19, 2006. Columbus Crew Stadium Crew 1:0 New York Ngwenya scores the lone goal in the Crew's first league win in fourteen games.
April 17 2007 2:2 tie with New England Kamara scores an awesome tying goal when the kool aid was still stirring for us last year. Btw miss Kei, think he might come into his own this year for San Jose and I wouldn't mind Kamara and St. Louis instead of some of the others we kept. Also I was on tv, which makes me happy. I agree that your's foozer was a good game. Man we were starving for a win, I was sitting a few rows down for that game.
July 22, 2007. Toronto FC. Hot and sunny. Ice cold beer---this is when the "Beers of the World" stand still had Heineken too. Harrassing Dick...io until he finally had to turnaround and give me the "come on" face. Schelotto's free kick into the bottom corner for his second goal in minutes. Unfortunately, you're just going to have to trust me on this since I can't seem to get the picture here.
Crew Stadium on 07-07-07. Crew 2 RSL 0. Just got the digital camera in the spring. Had only taken it to a couple games and remembered to use it less than that. I tried to get a Crew goal on video from various set pieces with little help from the team. Eventually they stepped up and gave us all a PK to remember. It has given me smiles often whenever needed since i have my camera on me quite often.
I don't have any pictures but maybe the best feeling after a match was the comback, OT, down 2 men win vs DC in the early days of Nee. That was a great night.
Stern John, one of many, breakin ankles, blasting in goals. The good ole days. A close second (not just because I made the banner) is Brian McBride's last game in a Crew jersey before going off to England and the banner we unfurled that read 'Bake The English, Mr. McBride'.
Last semester, I uploaded to Youtube the first occurrence of the pink slips. Is David still around here? David - Do you still have the video where I beat Clem in a chugging contest? I hope to I still have it on my old IMac...
MLS Allstar game stealing bottles, or the DC playoff home victory. That's about as good as it'll ever get. Or, forgot, chinning a couple Fire fans with 2pies, and diablo. Can't get much better than that.
That'd be the one. Perhaps one of the best moments in Crew history as you, I, Paddy Shaun, and Shaun the bastard went and sat in the DC section for the last twenty minutes. But in true Crew fashion, it didn't last, they got beat badly the next match.
The only crew game I've ever gone to was in late June against RBNY. It was my bachelor party and we got a win. It was greatness. BTW, I'm new.
I believe that was his first game as head coach. Trivia point: While that was his first game as head coach, it wasn't his first game in that role, as he filled in for a game when Fitz attended his son's high school graduation. I believe it was one of the bonus games in 2001, although I forget who we played. I want to say at a US Open Cup game in 2000, the sky turned some weird, funky shade of red and got quite cloudy. I think it was against NY. Does anyone have a picture of the sky from that night?
If its the game that I think it is then there are some pictures out there somewhere. I can think of one of a somewhat random gathering of fans (myself included) standing on the north concourse before the game with the freaky sky overhead. Not a bad picture. Further questions if that was the Open Cup game against NY - was that the game where the NY backline was not called for a single foul the entire night?
Yeah it's a bit rough when you see these shots, remember the teams and realize what the powers that be have let the team become.
As beautiful as the sunset was, this was more beautiful to me. I had my bachelor party in one of the luxury boxes. It was pretty nice, but damn I would've liked it better to been out with the real fans instead of the corporate guys.
