Both shows are soccer friendly and both hosts have expressed that they feel a complex for the city, and keeping the Wizards, is something that needs to be done. Call them to push the issues as well.

    Events:
September 9th: Potential HASF rally and tailgate, in conjunction with the Cauldron, before the Wizards game.

September 25th: Overland Park City Council meeting for potential stadium complex vote in Johnson County. This meeting is VERY imprortant. If you are a Wizards fan at all, Cauldron or not, be at this meeting if at all possible to show support for the cause. Showing up in numbers, so many that we surprise people, is the key.

Re: The OFFICIAL "What can I do to help the Wizards stay" thread

This thread's purpose is to give an overview of information that soccer fans in Kansas City, or beyond, cause use to help push the stadium issue currently being discussed in Johnson County. If you have information that you feel needs to be put into this thread, please PM it to Spoon or myself or you can add a post to the bottom of the thread and the information will be placed in the opening post of the thread. We will edit the first post of this thread with all important information. This thread will be stickyed until further notice.

What this thread will NOT be is a place for open discussion about any of the topics. Individual threads about meetings, rallies, votes, etc. will still exist. This will simply be the end all place for information only. Any post that is not strictly a posting of information will be deleted. Again, there will threads for discussion of each topic so please do that in those threads. This thread is for those that don't have the time to sift through long threads and find information that is sometimes hard to locate.

A message to people living outside the Kansas City area that want to help: Write to the given individuals and express the importance of keeping soccer in Kansas City. If you are from places like Dallas, Chicago, Columbus or Los Angeles explain the importance of a soccer specific stadium and what it has brought to your community. Every letter helps the cause. Thank you for your support.

One of the most important events here. It doesn't matter where you sit at or what kind of fan you are. If you care enought and want this team to say show up for this meeting.

I think Ben and Spoon wanted us to send posts to them first for this thread, but HASF will have an updated contact database soon that will allow people to contact pertinent people to this process all over Johnson County and the State of Kansas.

Park board to size up soccer complex

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District board meets tonight to discuss a public bond vote to build soccer fields. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the district’s administrative offices at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee.

One reason for tonight’s meeting is to gauge public opinion, said James Azeltine, a board member.

“The last thing we want to do is give the impression that any kind of decision has been made, because there’s been no public discussion up to this point,” he said.

    Friends of the Wizards:

The Johnson County Parks and Rec board will meet tonight at 7:00 at their headquarters, 7900 Renner Road in Shawnee (in Shawnee Mission Park). One of the stated goals of the meeting is to "gauge public reaction" to the idea of issuing bonds for a youth soccer complex as a part of the stadium complex.

If it is at all possible, please come to this meeting, perhaps with a few words prepared in advance, as there will likely be an open forum.

Also, whether or not you can make it to the meeting, feel free to email the members of the board in support of the project, particularly if you live in Johnson County.

I recommend you guys to try to get in touch with at least one person from every high school and college soccer team in the area and create a big organized group to go to these meetings and show support.

Also, make sure that you put information about this in the All-American soccer complex.

Can't we do both? :D DanRod has some good points. Heartland Soccer is heavily involved in the project, and HASF has compiled a soccer directory as well that gets addressed with all of our press releases. If you have any names to add to that list or are not subscribed yourself, please do so here.

    A good question.

What can I do from Europe to stay my beloved club in the MLS?

Heart of America Soccer Foundation Announcement:

As you know, the Overland Park City Council will meet Monday night, Sep. 25, to discuss the establishment of a tax district eligible for STAR bonds, which would help pay for a Wizards stadium.

Please write to the City Council members and indicate your support for the project. The Council members need to know that there is support for the project in the community, and not just people who are against the project, or who are in favor...just not in their backyards.

We also need people to come to the meeting itself, which will be at 7:30 at Overland Park City Hall, 8500 Santa Fe Drive, again, on Monday the 25th of September. Please let me know privately at spierron@hoasoccer.org if you plan to attend, and if you would like to speak, particularly if you are a resident of Overland Park.

The letters and emails can be brief, but they need to be made in the next few days. As a rule, they are familiar with the project and its benefits; they do, however, need affirmation, particularly from Overland Park residents.

Feel free to pass this along to fellow proponents of the stadium.

Good luck on the vote tomorrow. You folks have worked hard for this. Regardless of the Wizards stadium, the youth field complex can only be a good thing. Here's hoping the YES votes pull it off.

I'm looking forward to the PbP on the vote when I come to work Wednesday morning.:)
