This is the kind of attitude needed from the new (but experienced) kid on the block:

That's the Colorado state flag, since Wes Hart is from Littleton, Colorado. :)

          GO EARTHQUAKES!!!

Wes Hart sucks. I'd trade him for a case of beer and a stripper. Check back at the end of the season to see if I'm right.

    The timing is very strange.
He sure could contribute to the game vs Timbers tonight.
And play some minutes vs. Alaves as well.

Does it mean that Quakes are going to sign someone else RIGHT NOW?

Either that or it was all about team chemistry. Oh well.

hmmm, I wonder who they have their eyes on..

it seems a little abrupt to not have a plan to bring in someone else

    let the speculation begin..

Or they decide to sign one of the best 11 ever played for SJ in the poll.

Seriously, if it is a new player, it will be a acquisition instead of a trade. The new player will be someone whom we can't trade for. Foreign players? US players in other leagues (domestic or overseas)?

I will also guess that the player is of higher level (than Wes Hart).
Wes Hart is a good player and many teams can use his experience. If SJ has eyes on some existing MLS players on other teams, they can trade him (and/or together with another player or draft spot).

    Just wild guess.

This has to be about opening a roster spot. Too bad for Wes. I hope he lands a spot on another team.

And yeah, it almost has to be someone from outside the league, and we're into August now, so the transfer window is open yes? Or about to be opened? I'm pretty confident that the Quakes have someone on tap. They wouldn't cut a servicable player unless they needed the spot to sign someone who had already said yes!!

    Hmmmm. Maybe a striker?

    We'll see.

    GO QUAKES!!

I don't think they'd have waived Wes unless they had a replacement player already under contract. Now it's a matter of waiting until the transfer window opens up to announce the new guy. No reason to announce it until he's eligible to train and play with the team.

Shouldn't we leave this thread for Wes Hart alone?

We can start another one for speculation on what new player we may sign or what this moves mean.

But what's the reason not too....RSL and Chivas both did?

I don't know if I'd pattern my soccer management practices after RSL and Chivas. ;)

True enough, but even so, it was a serious question...what would be a reason not too?

Possibly, depending on who the player is: (1) Give upcoming opponents less time to research the player (getting videotape, etc.)-- could make a difference if player is relatively unknown to MLS players; (2) If player was being pursued by another MLS team, let that other team find out through its own channels-- not through an SJ press release... the other team's "channels" may be sleeping on the job ...

Once he shows up to start training with the team, the cat will be out of the bag anyway, so that's when I'd look for an announcement.
