Rafa Benitez complains that Valencia didn't buy him the players he wanted (a striker and a fullback): "I asked for a sofa and the brought me a lamp". Brilliant.

the game was suspended after the ref called a penalty in favor of valencia and some local yahoo threw an object that struck the ref in the eye and injured him. I hope they caught the bastard responsible.

Cuper Changing the subject, Cuper has been linked with the Spurs job in England. Given that he was Valencia Coach for a few years, what do you think of him?
He plays effective football. But he's not really built for the Spurs job, imo. I agree with you jum, Oh Sod it, just give Pleat the job
yep he commands an effective game if you are say a valencia or bayern muchen type team. Look at Inter's freaking record under Cuper he did well enough. His style demands patience and alot of teams arent willing to give it. Spurs arent patient and want a coach to fix it now so no you wouldnt like em.
I know where you're coming from, but the guy did bring us success, at the expense of stylish football. His tactics did cost us winning the CL, but they also got us there. Double edged sword, imo.
From Ciberche.net Valencia CF has qualified for the second round of King's Cup, after defeating CD Castellon in the resumption of the match suspended last October 7th. They were nine thrilling minutes in which everything happened. Baraja seemed to be the penalty kicker, but Mista kicked it finally, and missed it. Baraja received the rejected ball and scored. Castellon was overturned to the attack and Canobbio took advantage of a counterattack to scored the final goal. In the end, Valencia CF achieved the victory and the classification for the following round, that will be played next December 17th also to in a single match at the stadium of lower category rival.

Valencia to offer Atletico Madrid target Palop new deal tribalfootball.com - October 25, 2003 Valencia have no intention of selling goalkeeper Andres Palop. Atletico Madrid were credited with interest in Palop yesterday, but Valencia plan to open talks about a new contract extension with the shot-stopper. Palop's current deal doesn't run out in 2005, but if he rejects Valencia's offer, president Jaime Orti will give the green light to sell the player. Unlike Valencia, Atletico are offering Palop the No1 jersey at the Vicente Calderon.
