That's nauseating. Still, it seems that OUR club pissed him off, so this shouldn't be a huge surprise. At least it's not the filth, just filth jr.

    Go Quakes!!

I am never going to forget the stupid, short-sighted, egotistical decision that doyle made to get rid of beita and morrow.

Yeah but that was ancient history and I don't think it came from him. I honestly think it came from the higher ups. The bottom line is the Quakes don't pay their players. That is pretty much a given and those guys wanted more. I don't blame them for leaving and I don't think either players cares all that much either.

Over-hyped and out of the playoffs after one game due to the heroics of a Quakes cast-off?

Yeah so what? He is a 31 year old defender who hasn’t been here for the last 5 years, is going on his third club since he left and who will soon be playing for a hated and heated rival in LA. We as Quakes fans are still supposed to cry about a player who plays for Scum2? Again I’m happy for him on a personal level and am glad that he is back in California and closer to his family but I think it’s time to forget about Beita.....

For once I agree with Falvo on something. It would have been great to have Beita for the last half decade when he was in his prime. At this point, good luck to him elsewhere.

Also, LAFC aren't heated and hated rivals yet, if they'll ever be.

If it weren't for the new stadium, my prediction would be that LAFC would not last as long as Chivas USA. As it is, when the new stadium becomes obsolete (20 years? 18?) , LAFC will decamp to Columbus or some other place where soccer is actually appreciated.

They most certainly will be very soon unless you and other Quakes fans want to start rooting for a team in LA. I don’t know any San Jose soccer fan who would ever pull for a team down there nor do I see any reason or purpose on why we would or should. I mean not unless you want to switch your allegiances.

You mean there is no middle ground between being a heated-hated rival and pulling-rooting for them?

For me, there are the Quakes, and then there is everyone else. I put my energy in supporting the Quakes, and not dwelling on how much I need to despise the opposition. All I care about is beating them and being as high in the standings as possible. I don't need to hate them more than anyone else.

Well if you enjoy pulling and rooting for other teams in the same division, more power to you. I for one hope we beat these guys every game and I certainly won’t root for a team in LA. Just like City, United , Lazio and Roma fans hate one another or everyone in England traditionally hating Liverpool , I’m sure a rivalry will develop sooner than later just like it did with the Sounders and Timbers. This is also something that Garber and MLS has been seeking since its inception.

My not recognizing LAFC as a heated and hated rival to the quakes has nothing to do with what team I root for. They are a conference rival, but nothing more.

Never said I care or that I am pulling for them. I'm saying I don't recognize a heated rivalry with a team whom has no history in the league. (Or a prior league like NASL, USL)

Of course not. You can’t hate or have a rivalry with a team that hasn’t played a game yet but my point is , that will soon change! No one hated the Galaxy in January , February or March 1996 either but that changed in April as MLS and Alan Rothenberg wanted to make LA the leagues flagship franchise and when he called San Jose a rinky dink town. We’ve hated them ever since. Just like it did with the Sounders , I’m sure a heated rivalry will develop with this new LA team. I don’t see how or why it wouldn’t.

    That's right falvo.

In the Bay Area there is a hallowed tradition of hating every LA team. "Beat LA"? Sound familiar? If you don't like it, move out! Milquetoasts not welcome here!! :)

I root for any team that can take points away from any team above us in the standings.
